Technical hoses or industrial hoses — what’s the difference?

Ask quickly, and the answer is “in principle, none”. But take a closer look, and the differences begin to emerge. They are rarely visible to the naked eye. They lie in the choice of materials, in the construction, in the tolerances — and ultimately in the properties and durability of the individual hose.

For us, the difference became truly clear in 2010, when we moved from an Italian manufacturer to a partnership with a German manufacturer in Gelsenkirchen. That was when we began to understand what it really means to work with technical hoses rather than merely industrial ones. The difference is about documentation, consistency in production, and whether the manufacturer understands what the hose has to do — not just where it has to sit.

The hose is never a detail

Your vacuum cleaner or central vacuum system is never better than the hose and accessories connected to it. It sounds banal, but it is a truth we encounter again and again in practice. The wrong hose can be the difference between an installation that meets requirements — and one that does not.

That is why hoses take up so much space in our compliance work. We make sure that the hoses we deliver to critical environments meet the relevant requirements — whether the task is for the hose to dissipate static electricity in ATEX or ESD zones, to meet life science and pharmaceutical production requirements, or to be delivered ready-to-use, sterilised and with crimped end fittings such as tri-clamps or other connection systems.

This places demands on the manufacturer. It is not enough for the hose to look right. The manufacturer must understand the task — and be able to document it.

Ready-to-use: when the hose is ready to go straight into operation

For our customers in life science and pharmaceutical production, we offer hoses delivered as ready-to-use. That means hoses prepared to be put directly into use, without the customer having to handle cleaning, validation or cutting to length themselves.

In practical terms, the hose is post-treated and cleaned according to agreed protocols, swab-tested to document the level of cleanliness, delivered with accompanying documentation of the tests performed, and packed in a sealed bag so it arrives in the condition in which it was inspected.

The post-treatment and swab samples are carried out in cooperation with DB Lab / ALS Denmark in Odense, who handle the independent analysis and documentation. This gives our customers a traceable, documented delivery that can go directly into a validated production environment.

Custom hoses

In addition to ready-to-use deliveries, we also supply hoses tailored to the individual application. This may be specific lengths matching the actual installation, or crimped end fittings — including tri-clamps, threaded couplings or other systems that fit the customer’s existing equipment.

When the hose arrives pre-assembled, the customer saves installation time and gets a more reliable solution than if hose and end fittings are joined in the field.

Personal service

As a specialist distributor, we prioritise direct dialogue. You speak with people who know the products in detail and understand what is at stake in a critical environment. We offer individual advice on hose selection for the specific application, technical support in connection with specification and configuration, customised deliveries with lengths and end fittings made to measure, as well as ready-to-use deliveries with full documentation for life science.
