CLAMP 212 EC

CLAMP 212 EC is a bridge clamp with integral grounding developed specifically for ATEX/ESD installations on externally corrugated spiral hoses. The EC suffix (Electrically Conductive) refers to the clamp providing a continuous conductive path from the hose's electrically conductive layer to the earthed installation structure - a critical prerequisite for static discharge to be conducted away and not built up in the transport system. 24 dimensions with clamping range from 27 mm to 415 mm cover the AIRDUC EC/AS series' dimension range. Typically used in ATEX zone 21/22 areas where dust explosion risk requires integrated earth connection.

Frequently asked questions

What does EC mean?

EC stands for Electrically Conductive. CLAMP 212 EC has an integral grounding function that ensures a continuous conductive path from the hose's electrically conductive layer (typically a conductive stripe or full-wall compound) to the earthed metal structure the clamp is mounted on. This is critical in ATEX/ESD installations where static discharge must be conducted away to prevent spark formation in explosive atmospheres.

Which hoses is CLAMP 212 EC recommended for?

CLAMP 212 EC is recommended for EC/AS variants of the AIRDUC PUR series (351 EC, 355 EC, 356 EC and their AS counterparts 350 AS, 355 AS, 356 AS). These hoses have a conductive construction (stripe or full-wall) that requires proper earth connection. CLAMP 212 EC ensures the earth connection is continuous also across hose joints.

Should I ohm-test after installation?

Yes - good practice. After installation of CLAMP 212 EC on a conductive hose, we recommend measuring the resistance between the hose's conductive layer and the earth structure with a multimeter (in the Megohm range). Values below 10E6 ohms confirm the earth connection is functional. This is particularly important after long use where dust deposits may have insulated the contact surfaces. See our 'Know your ohm' article for more background.

What is the difference between CLAMP 212 and CLAMP 212 EC?

CLAMP 212 is a standard bridge clamp without grounding function - chosen for non-ATEX/non-ESD installations. CLAMP 212 EC has integral grounding via a conductive contact arm that ensures the clamp both holds the hose mechanically AND maintains the earth connection. For ATEX zone 21/22, only CLAMP 212 EC is recommended.
