CONNECT 240 EC

CONNECT 240 EC is an electrically conductive soft slide-on sleeve developed for ATEX installations on the AIRDUC PUR series' EC and AS variants (351 EC, 355 EC, 356 EC, 350 AS, 355 AS, 356 AS) and the AIRDUC PVC series (341, 345). The sleeve combines high abrasion resistance with chemical-, microbe- and hydrolysis-resistance - a specification that makes it ideal for food and pharma industry. The electrical property is documented with through-resistance below 10E3 ohms (contact resistance) and surface resistance below 10E3 ohms; also conforms to NFPA 652 threshold of <10E6 ohms. Temperature range -40 to +90 deg C with peak +125 deg C.

Frequently asked questions

What does the EC resistance mean?

CONNECT 240 EC has documented electrical resistance below 10E3 ohms (1000 ohms) for both through-resistance and surface resistance. This means the sleeve is classified as electrically conductive (not just static-dissipative). This is critical in ATEX installations where static discharge from the hose's medium must be conducted to earth without building up charge. The sleeve also conforms to NFPA 652 (US standard for dust explosion handling) which has a higher threshold of <10E6 ohms.

Which hoses?

CONNECT 240 EC is qualified for AIRDUC PUR EC variants (351 EC, 355 EC, 356 EC) and AS variants (350 AS, 355 AS, 356 AS) plus AIRDUC PVC 341, 345. For standard non-EC AIRDUC variants, we recommend CONNECT 240 (base version) instead which does not have EC function but is cheaper.

Difference from CONNECT 240?

CONNECT 240 (base) has abrasion-, chemical- and microbe-resistance but is NOT electrically conductive. CONNECT 240 EC adds the electrical conductivity plus hydrolysis resistance. For ATEX/ESD installations CONNECT 240 EC is mandatory; for non-ATEX applications CONNECT 240 (base) is the cheaper alternative.

Recommended ohm-test after installation?

Yes - good practice. Measure the resistance between the hose's conductive layer and the earth structure after installation. Values below 10E6 ohms confirm functional earth connection - lower is better. CONNECT 240 EC's own through-resistance is specified <10E3 ohms. See our 'Know your ohm' article for guidelines on multimeter measurement and interpretation.
