CONNECT STORZ SAFETY 8511

CONNECT STORZ SAFETY 8511 is a Storz system safety clamp with an entirely different function than the standard Storz adapter. Where the 251 adapter offers a thread connection to standard pipe connection, the 8511 safety clamp is a SECURING solution that can be applied to an already-mounted Storz coupling to ensure the coupling is not unintentionally opened. The construction is a steel band with joint (knee-link allowing the clamp to bend around the Storz coupling), rubber cover profile (rubber coating protecting the coupling surface) and adjustable lock (adjustable lock bolt). This is particularly valuable in applications where an opened Storz coupling would pose a safety risk - e.g. high-pressure installations where unintentional uncoupling could cause whip-back, or permanent installations where lever mechanism failure would break the pipe connection.

Frequently asked questions

What is a Storz safety clamp?

A Storz safety clamp is a secondary-lock solution applied to an existing Storz coupling to secure it against unintentional opening. Standard Storz couplings are developed for fast opening/closing - a quarter turn of the lever, and the coupling is opened. This is an advantage in fast-logistics applications, but a risk in installations where a lever moving by accident could cause uncoupling. The safety clamp embraces the Storz coupling and mechanically prevents lever movement - typically via an adjustable lock bolt that tightens the clamp around it.

What are A / B / C?

Storz standard's category designations. C is the smallest (66 mm lug distance), B is medium (89 mm), A is the largest (133 mm). Choose safety clamp by your Storz coupling's size - the three are not interchangeable.

For which applications?

Storz safety clamp is recommended in: (1) high-pressure installations where unintentional opening could cause hose whip-back; (2) permanent installations where an opened coupling would break the pipe connection for an extended period; (3) exposed installations where human contact with levers is likely (public areas, participant areas on construction sites); (4) cases where procedure compliance requires secondary locking on critical pipe connections.

Sold individually?

Yes. Each A/B/C size has its own article number (8511066000, 8511089000, 8511133000). For complete securing of a Storz coupling installation, you need one safety clamp per coupling.
