PTFE-tape

PTFE tape (Teflon tape) is a white plastic tape of polytetrafluoroethylene wrapped around threads for a leak-free joint. Widely used for water, gas and air installations. Resistant to nearly all chemicals and high temperatures (-200 to +260 deg C).

Frequently asked questions

How many wraps?

Typically 5-7 wraps on standard threads. More for high-pressure; less for fine threads. Always wrap in thread direction so tape is not lifted at assembly.
