REACH and RoHS compliance for industrial hoses
NORRES BAGGERMAN issues REACH and RoHS compliance declarations for the entire hose programme on an ongoing basis. The declarations cover SVHC substances (REACH article 33) and the ten restriction substances in the RoHS 3 directive, and are updated with each new version of the candidate list.
Why REACH and RoHS matter to purchasers
For a purchaser in chemical industry, food production or pharmaceuticals, REACH and RoHS declarations are often the first papers requested. They are the formal basis for a component to enter an EU supply chain without triggering a chemical impact assessment or a separate compliance round. NORRES BAGGERMAN delivers them collected and current — we send them along when you receive a hose from us.
REACH — chemical registration and SVHC
The REACH regulation (EC 1907/2006) entered into force on 1 June 2007 and regulates registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemicals in the EU. According to the declaration, NORRES BAGGERMAN is a downstream user: the company is not itself a manufacturer of substances, mixtures or raw materials, but processes them into finished hoses and fittings. This classification means NORRES BAGGERMAN is not subject to the pre-registration requirement, but has the duty to pass on information about SVHC substances in its products.
Specifically — per article 33 of the REACH regulation — a manufacturer must inform if a product contains over 0.1% by mass of a substance on the European candidate list of substances of very high concern (SVHC). The NORRES BAGGERMAN declaration of 4 February 2026 reports that the following substances in certain products exceed 0.1% by mass:
- LeadCAS no. 7439-92-1 · EC no. 231-100-4 · typically in brass couplings
- NickelCAS no. 7440-02-0 · EC no. 231-111-4 · typically in stainless steel hose clamps and fittings
- TriphenylphenolCAS no. 3140-01-0 · in specific PUR types
For all other products in the NORRES BAGGERMAN programme, suppliers have confirmed that no SVHC substances are present in declarable quantity from the candidate list of 4 February 2026. Impurities are not covered by this declaration — that is a standard disclaimer in REACH declarations from all manufacturers.
RoHS 3 — restriction of hazardous substances
The RoHS 3 directive (EU 2015/863) replaced the original RoHS version (2011/65/EC) on 22 July 2019. The directive sets maximum concentrations for ten substances in electrical and electronic equipment.
Hoses are only directly covered by RoHS if they are used as components in such equipment. NORRES BAGGERMAN declares that none of the regulated substances are intentionally used as a recipe component or process auxiliary in any of their products, and that no raw materials in the processed product portfolio exceed the limit values. The declaration is based on information from raw material suppliers — NORRES BAGGERMAN does not perform separate analyses on this point.
The substances covered by RoHS 3 (with their maximum limits) are:
- Lead (Pb) — 0.1%
- Mercury (Hg) — 0.1%
- Cadmium (Cd) — 0.01%
- Hexavalent chromium (Cr6+) — 0.1%
- Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) — 0.1%
- Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) — 0.1%
- Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) — 0.1%
- Benzyl butyl phthalate (BBP) — 0.1%
- Dibutyl phthalate (DBP) — 0.1%
- Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP) — 0.1%
What this means for you as a customer
If you supply into an EU supply chain, your hose supplier must have both the REACH declaration and the RoHS declaration ready when you ask — that is industry standard. Particulair always delivers both documents with the order confirmation on a NORRES BAGGERMAN hose. If your internal compliance system requires a declaration letter on your company address, we can have it issued with your contact reference inside the document.

Frequently asked questions about REACH and RoHS
What is REACH?
REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) is EU regulation EC 1907/2006 from 2007. It regulates production, use and restriction of chemicals in the EU. NORRES BAGGERMAN is classified as a "downstream user" — they process substances into finished hoses but do not produce the substances themselves.
What is SVHC?
SVHC (Substances of Very High Concern) are substances identified as particularly problematic and listed on the European candidate list. If a product contains over 0.1 % by mass of an SVHC substance, the manufacturer must disclose it per REACH article 33.
Which SVHC substances does NORRES BAGGERMAN declare?
As of 4 February 2026, NORRES BAGGERMAN declares three substances over 0.1 % in certain products: lead (CAS 7439-92-1, typically in brass couplings), nickel (CAS 7440-02-0, typically in stainless steel hose clamps) and triphenylphenol (CAS 3140-01-0, in specific PUR types).
What is RoHS 3?
The RoHS 3 directive (EU 2015/863) replaced the original RoHS version (2011/65/EC) on 22 July 2019. It sets maximum concentrations for ten substances (lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium and seven others) in electrical and electronic equipment.
Are industrial hoses covered by RoHS?
Hoses are only directly covered by RoHS if they are used as components in electrical or electronic equipment. NORRES BAGGERMAN declares that none of the regulated substances are intentionally used as recipe component or process auxiliary in their products, and that no raw materials exceed the limit values.
How often is a new REACH declaration issued?
The REACH declaration is updated typically twice a year as the European SVHC candidate list is updated. The most recent version per this page is dated 4 February 2026.
Can I get a declaration addressed to my company?
Yes. NORRES BAGGERMAN can issue REACH and RoHS declarations with your company address and contact reference inside the document. Get in touch with your order details and you'll receive a personalised copy within a few business days.
