Membrane tube diffusers for sewage treatment plants
Membrane tube diffusers with PUR or EPDM membranes for aerating wastewater in sewage treatment plants and fixed-bed and bioreactors, with adapter bodies, clamps, seals and connectors for assembly and mounting.
A membrane tube diffuser consists of a perforated membrane tube fitted on an adapter body and held in place with clamps. Air is forced out through the membrane into the wastewater. The membranes come in two materials, PUR (Pre-PUR) and EPDM, each with its own operating range.
On this page you will find complete membrane tube diffusers with adapter body and clamps, replacement membrane tubes and the parts used for assembly and mounting: adapter bodies, clamps, seals, connectors for rectangular profiles and adapters for drill holes.

PUR membranes: a wide operating range
The Pre-PUR membranes are transparent PUR membranes with a wall thickness of 0.5 to 0.7 mm. The manufacturer states normal operation at 3–8, minimum 1, maximum 15 and purging at 18 Nm³/(h·m Aer.), a mechanical strength of around 2.5–4 times that of most EPDM and silicone materials and very good resistance to wastewater according to DWA-M 115.
EPDM membranes
EPDM 610 and EPDM 625 are black EPDM membranes. The manufacturer states normal operation at 6–8, minimum 2, maximum 12 and purging at 15 Nm³/(h·m Aer.), a temperature range of 0 to 85 °C and very good resistance to wastewater according to DWA-M 115.
Assembly and mounting
The CONNECT 681 adapter body is made of polypropylene and has a 3/4" or 1" internal thread. The membrane is fastened with CLAMP 682 single-ear stainless steel clamps. The CONNECT 683 seal is used when mounting the adapter bodies, CONNECT 684 mounts diffusers on rectangular profiles from both sides, and CONNECT 685 is an adapter for drill holes of Ø 45 mm.
Questions we are asked often
What is the difference between PUR and EPDM membranes?
According to the manufacturer, the PUR membranes (Pre-PUR) have the widest operating range: normal operation 3–8, minimum 1, maximum 15 and purging 18 Nm³/(h·m Aer.). The manufacturer also states a mechanical strength of around 2.5–4 times that of most EPDM and silicone materials. The EPDM membranes have normal operation 6–8, minimum 2, maximum 12 and purging 15 Nm³/(h·m Aer.).
What parts does a membrane tube diffuser consist of?
The membrane tube sits on an adapter body with an internal thread and is held in place with stainless steel clamps. Pre-PUR 601, 602, 603 and EPDM 610 are supplied with adapter body and clamps. For your own assembly there is the CONNECT 681 adapter body, the CLAMP 682 clamp, the CONNECT 683 seal, the CONNECT 684 connector for rectangular profiles and the CONNECT 685 adapter for drill holes of Ø 45 mm.
What temperatures do the membranes withstand?
The manufacturer states −40 to 90 °C for the PUR membranes, but −40 to 60 °C for Pre-PUR 602, and 0 to 85 °C for the EPDM membranes.
Which sizes are available?
Inner diameter 64.5 mm and total lengths of 570, 820 and 1070 mm with an active (perforated) length of 500, 750 and 1000 mm. Pre-PUR 620 is also available with inner diameters of 90.8 and 91.5 mm, and Pre-PUR 622 is supplied in longer lengths from 2 to 50 m.
