Colour coding and hygiene

The Colour Line concept enables systematic colour coding of vacuum accessories in food and pharma environments, where visual segregation of equipment forms part of internal hygiene procedures and GMP requirements. Colour coding reduces the risk of cross-contamination by assigning specific colours to separate process zones, allergen statuses or product types:

  • Blue — allergen-free zones or dry products
  • Red — meat processing or controlled process zones
  • Green / yellow / white — additional colours adapted to internal colour coding systems
Please note: The standard Colour Line is manufactured in oil-resistant NBR rubber without FDA compliance. FDA-compatible versions carry the suffix F and must be specified at the time of ordering. It is the end user's responsibility to verify the material's suitability for the specific application.

Frequently asked questions

The silicone version (White Line) is compliant with FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 and BfR Recommendation XV in its standard form, withstands −60°C to +200°C and can be autoclaved. Colour Line is manufactured in oil-resistant NBR rubber and is available in an FDA-compatible version (F suffix) on request, with an operating range of −20°C to +120°C. Colour Line is primarily intended for colour-coded hygiene management systems.
Yes. The silicone material Wacker Chemie R 4001 80 has an operating temperature range of −60°C to +200°C, making autoclaving possible as part of a hygiene routine. It is the user's responsibility to verify that the rest of the tube system and accessories are also rated for the autoclaving temperature.
FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 is the US Food and Drug Administration's regulation for rubber materials approved for repeated contact with food. BfR Recommendation XV is the equivalent German requirement for silicone materials in food contact. For the silicone version, compliance is documented for the compound Wacker Chemie R 4001 80. The end user is responsible for verifying suitability for the specific intended use.
The part number is built as PT + diameter + colour letter + F. Example: Ø38 mm in green FDA version = PT381VF. Blue and red are stocked; other colours (yellow, green, white) are supplied on request. Contact us with the required diameter, colour and quantity.
Both variants are available in Ø38, Ø40, Ø44, Ø50 and Ø70 mm. The diameter must match the tube system on your vacuum unit. Please contact us if you are unsure of the correct size.
Yes — the conical nozzle is also available in antistatic MM019NN NBR compound for use in ATEX Zone 21 and Zone 22, with documented volume resistivity of 1.1 Ω·m (CERISIE, ISO 1853:2011). See the ATEX product page for details.
