Delfin MTL 452 ACD 1/-D

ACD vacuum cleaner for combustible dust in non-classified areas

The Delfin MTL 452 ACD is a robust industrial vacuum cleaner designed for the safe collection of combustible or conductive dust outside classified ATEX zones. The unit is ACD certified (Applied for Combustible Dust) according to IEC 60335-2-69 Annex AA and tested by a Notified Body for internal EX D protection. It ensures full containment, high filtration efficiency and safe dust handling in workshops, production areas, surface finishing and additive manufacturing, where combustible dust may be present but no zoned equipment is required.

  • Classification: ACD EX D – tested by Notified Body according to IEC 60335-2-69 Annex AA.
  • Motor: single-phase 230 V, 2.2 kW – low noise level 74 dB(A).
  • Filter: antistatic polyester M + HEPA H14 final filter.
  • Capacity: 45 L – AISI 304 stainless-steel container with tangential inlet and cyclone.
  • Supplied with antistatic accessory kit TA.0229.0000 (Ø 40 mm) including conductive hose, handles and nozzles.

Technical design

The MTL 452 ACD features a double by-pass motor and a tangential inlet with integrated cyclone to reduce filter loading and maintain constant airflow (360 m³/h). The primary antistatic polyester filter (20,000 cm²) is cleaned manually by a mechanical system. The HEPA H14 final filter (9,900 cm²) captures 99.995 % of particles down to 0.3 µm (MPPS method, EN 1822). All metallic components through the air path ensure proper electrical continuity and prevent static build-up.

Safety and certification

  • ACD certified to IEC 60335-2-69 Annex AA – tested by Notified Body for EX D containment.
  • Container and filter housing in AISI 304 – electrically conductive construction.
  • HEPA H14 filter tested to EN 1822 and IEST RP-CC001 (MPPS method).
  • Suitable for combustible dust collection in non-classified areas or for maintenance around Zone 21/22 installations.

Technical note

The ACD classification covers vacuum cleaners tested for leak-tightness, filtration integrity and safe handling of combustible dust without formal ATEX certification. The Delfin MTL 452 ACD, built entirely in metal and tested by a Notified Body, is ideal for use in areas where combustible dust is present but no explosive atmosphere classification applies. It is commonly used for cleaning and maintenance around ATEX zones, offering IEC-compliant dust-tight safety and HEPA filtration according to EN 1822.

FAQ

What does ACD EX D mean?
Applied for Combustible Dust – tested according to IEC 60335-2-69 Annex AA and verified by a Notified Body for internal EX D tightness and dust containment.

Where can the vacuum be used?
In non-classified workshops, production lines, surface finishing, powder handling or additive manufacturing areas where combustible dust may be present but ATEX zoning is not required.

What is included in kit TA.0229.0000?
An antistatic accessory kit Ø 40 mm including 3 m antistatic hose, connectors, reduction fittings, bent metal wand and stainless-steel floor nozzle with wheels.

Is ACD the same as ATEX?
No. ACD is an IEC classification for tested dust-tight and filtration performance; ATEX requires third-party certification for specific zones (20/21/22).

Can the MTL 452 ACD handle metal dust?
Only non-conductive dust. For conductive metal powders, use an INERT model with a certified separator.
