Tiger-Vac C-10 EX (IT-40L) DT (CFE) HEPA INERT 1/3D
Description
The Tiger-Vac C-10 EX (IT-40L) DT (CFE) HEPA is an inertizing ATEX vacuum cleaner engineered for the safe recovery of conductive, combustible, and potentially self-heating metal dusts. It is certified for internal Zone 20 (Category 1D) and external Zone 22 (Category 3D), making it ideal for environments where the dust itself represents the main explosion hazard. Typical applications include metal additive manufacturing, 3D printing, laboratories, ammunition production, and processes involving reactive metal powders.
Inertization and Liquid Selection
Dust is directed into a liquid immersion bath where it is cooled, neutralized, and stabilized. This model supports both water and oil, depending on SDS requirements and the material’s reactivity. Water-compatible metals can be collected with water; reactive metals such as magnesium, lithium, zirconium, and pyrophoric alloys require oil. The user must always verify the correct liquid according to SDS documentation.
Allowed and Prohibited Materials
Allowed: non-reactive aluminium, copper, brass, steel, nickel alloys, and certain AM powders. Prohibited with water: magnesium, lithium, zirconium, tantalum, pyrophoric titanium alloys, and water-reactive ammunition. Organic dust must never be collected with this type of inert system.
Filtration and Construction
The unit is built from stainless steel (AISI 304) and equipped with a HEPA-grade coalescing filter element and H14 downstream HEPA filtration. A degassing vent automatically evacuates gases from the tank. The conductive wet recovery bag system ensures safe handling of the collected inert slurry.
Applications
Used in metal AM, research laboratories, energetics and battery environments, metalworking, recycling, and ammunition manufacturing where internal Zone 20 classification and inertization are required for safe operation.
Safety
The vacuum complies with EN 17348 WT for combustible and self-heating dusts. Correct liquid level, correct liquid type, proper grounding, and the use of recommended accessories are mandatory. Inertization does not replace a comprehensive risk assessment and SDS verification is required before use.
Inert or ATEX – do you know the difference?
When dealing with reactive metal dust, a dry ATEX vacuum may be insufficient. Learn when inertization is required and when ATEX alone is enough.
Accessories
Included accessories: conductive wet recovery bag, depressor cage, coalescing HEPA filter, SD tool kit, stainless steel tank, liquid level indicator, and degassing vent.
Technical Note
This model is designed for processes where the primary risk originates inside the vacuum (internal Zone 20). It is therefore selected for applications where conventional ATEX dry vacuums do not provide sufficient protection.
FAQ
- Which metals can be collected? Water-compatible metals may be collected with water; reactive metals require oil.
- Can organic dust be collected? No, inert vacuums are intended for metallic dust only.
- Which zone may the vacuum operate in? It may be placed in Zone 22 or non-classified areas; internally it is certified for Zone 20.
- What accessories are included? Conductive wet recovery bags, depressor cage, HEPA H14 filters, coalescing filter, and SD tool kit.
- Is inertization always required? Only when the dust may react, ignite, or self-heat. SDS must always be consulted.
