Tiger-Vac CD-3 EX (WET & DRY) 1/2GD

ATEX 1/2GD industrial vacuum cleaner for wet and dry recovery – available with/without activated carbon (MRAC)

The Tiger-Vac CD-3 EX (WET & DRY) 1/2GD is an advanced ATEX- and IECEx-certified industrial vacuum system designed for the safe recovery of liquids, sludge, combustible dust and conductive particles. The unit is certified for internal Zone 20 (Da), meaning it can legally recover combustible and conductive dust directly inside the recovery tank and filter chamber. Externally, it is approved for Zone 1/2 (gas) and Zone 21/22 (dust), making it suitable for hybrid explosive atmospheres.

The model is available in two configurations:

  • Standard ULPA version – for maximum fine-dust filtration
  • MRAC version (Activated Carbon Middle Ring) – equipped with 8 kg of activated carbon for the adsorption of solvents, VOCs, toxic fumes, ammonia, chlorides and organic vapours

Both versions share the same EX certification, stainless steel construction, motor power and performance. The MRAC version is recommended for chemical environments, pharma production, additive manufacturing, laboratory use and applications involving vapours or volatile organic compounds.

Construction and performance

The CD-3 EX is built in AISI 304 stainless steel and equipped with a complete wet/dry recovery system including a wet shut-off floater, ULPA H14 final filtration and a modular filter design allowing operators to alternate between liquid and dry collection.

  • Wet & dry operation: 56.8 L (dry) / 64.4 L (liquid)
  • ULPA H14 filtration included as standard (>99.9995%)
  • Wet floater system for automatic liquid shut-off
  • Static dissipative tool kit (Ø38 mm) included
  • Enhanced safety against electrostatic discharge (total system resistance <10 Ω)

MRAC – activated carbon for vapour and gas adsorption

The MRAC version (Activated Carbon Middle Ring) contains 8 kg of activated carbon in a removable cartridge. Four carbon types are available:

  • Regular Carbon – general VOC removal
  • Mersorb – mercury vapours
  • KOGC3 / KINA3 – chloride & halogen compounds
  • A-3 – arsine and phosphine gases

All variants are antistatic and suitable for ATEX environments.

Safety and certification

  • IECEx Certificate: LCI 10.0040X
  • ATEX Certificate: LCIE 03 ATEX 6295 X
  • External: Ex db h IIB T4 Gb / Ex h tb IIIC T135°C Db IP65
  • Internal: Ex h IIC T6 Ga / Ex h IIIC T50°C Da
  • Compliant with EN 17348 for safe recovery of combustible dust

Technical note

The CD-3 EX is one of the few EX-rated vacuum systems on the market capable of combining wet & dry recovery and advanced vapour adsorption in one unit. This makes it ideal for hybrid-atmosphere environments or processes involving both particulate and volatile hazards. Proper bonding/grounding of hoses, pipes and operators is required for ATEX compliance.

FAQ

Can the system recover both liquids and combustible dust?
Yes. Its internal Zone 20 certification allows the safe recovery of combustible and conductive dust inside the recovery chamber.

What is special about the MRAC version?
It adsorbs VOCs, solvents and toxic vapours directly during operation.

Is ULPA included?
Yes — ULPA H14 filtration is standard in both versions.

Which industries use the CD-3 EX?
Pharma, chemical production, additive manufacturing, laboratories, battery handling, food production and general industrial applications.
