ATEX Zone 21 vacuum cleaner for combustible and conductive dust with Manual Reverse Purge (MRP)
The Tiger-Vac CD-4 EX (MRP) CAT. 2D Z21 is a compact explosion-proof industrial vacuum cleaner designed for the safe recovery of combustible and conductive dust in ATEX Zone 21 areas. The internal chamber is certified for Zone 20, and the complete system is ESD safe and guaranteed for the recovery of combustible/conductive dusts.

Technical design
The CD-4 EX (MRP) is a modular system with a stainless steel filter housing, high-capacity recovery tank and EX motor mounted on a rugged steel frame with four swivel castors. The dust intake and internal flow path are designed to minimise filter loading, while the MRP system uses a handle-operated reverse airflow pulse to blow dust off the cartridge. The aluminized spun-bond media combines high mechanical strength with low pressure drop, making the unit suitable for continuous duty with fine, dry dust.
Safety and certification
- Guaranteed for the safe recovery of combustible and conductive dusts – ESD safe system (< 10 Ω).
- ATEX and IECEx third-party certified by LCIE (LCIE 03 ATEX 6295 X) and IECEx (IECEx LCI …).
- Complies with EN 17348 for combustible dust collection and relevant IEC/EN standards for vacuum cleaners in explosive atmospheres.
- EX motor and electrical panel are IP65, with all conductive components bonded and grounded to prevent electrostatic discharges.
Technical note
The MRP system is particularly suitable where fine dust, long operating hours or high filter loading would quickly block conventional filters. Compared to simple mechanical shaking (MFS), Reverse Purge typically provides more effective filter cleaning and a more stable vacuum level over time. As with all ATEX systems, the total installation must be assessed, including hoses, tools, earthing and operating procedures.

Yes, it is certified for Dust Group IIIC and is ESD safe, provided that conductive hoses and accessories are correctly bonded and grounded.
Do I always need HEPA filtration?
No, but HEPA H14 is recommended wherever emission limits are strict – for example in process rooms, laboratories or where dust is hazardous to health.
What is the difference between Zone 20 and Zone 21 in this vacuum?
The interior of the filter housing and tank is classified as Zone 20 (continuous presence of explosive dust), while the external surfaces and surrounding area are Zone 21 (frequent to occasional presence).
