Tiger-Vac CD/EUR-36L EX DT (MRP) ULPA WITH SS CART 2D

ATEX Zone 21 industrial vacuum cleaner for food and pharmaceutical production with ULPA filtration

The Tiger-Vac CD/EUR-36L EX DT (MRP) ULPA WITH SS CART Z21 is a vertical ATEX and IECEx certified industrial vacuum cleaner designed for the safe recovery of combustible and conductive dust in Zone 21 environments. It is specifically engineered for food and pharmaceutical processing, where cleanliness, traceability and certified explosion safety are critical. The system combines a 36 L detachable AISI 304 stainless steel recovery tank, Manual Reverse Purge filter cleaning and a U15 ULPA final filter with 99.999% efficiency – tested according to EN 1822 and IEST-RP-CC001.

  • ATEX marking: II 1/2GD – external: Ex db h IIB T4 Gb / Ex h tb IIIC T135°C Db IP65, internal: Ex h IIC T6 Ga / Ex h IIIC T50°C Da (LCIE 03 ATEX 6295 X).
  • IECEx 3rd-party certified (IECEx LCI 10.0040X) and tested according to EN 17348 as a Dry Type combustible dust collector.
  • ULPA U15 final filter with 99.999% efficiency at 0.12 µm and 99.9995% at 0.18 µm, aerosol leak-tested prior to shipment.
  • Static conductive reverse purge primary cartridge made of aluminized spunbond polyester and a stainless-steel muffler with sound-dampening foam.
  • Full stainless-steel AISI 304 construction with a CSMT (Carriage with Suspended Motor Top) trolley and static dissipative wheels – suitable for cleanroom environments up to ISO Class 4 (former Class 10).

Technical design and filtration

The CD/EUR-36L EX DT (MRP) ULPA is designed as a compact vertical system with the motor and controls at the top, a dedicated filter chamber in the middle, and a detachable 36 L recovery tank at the bottom. The primary filter is a static conductive aluminized spunbond reverse purge cartridge, cleaned using the Manual Reverse Purge (MRP) system, which sends air in reverse through the pleats. This extends filter life and maintains a constant airflow of 212 m³/h without the need for compressed air. The ULPA U15 filter mounted on the exhaust ensures extremely clean discharge air suitable for sensitive pharma and food environments. A VRV valve set to 1,780 mm H₂O protects the motor from overload during continuous operation.

Safety, ATEX zoning and use in Zone 21

  • The vacuum is legally ATEX and IECEx certified by LCIE (0081) for the safe recovery of combustible and conductive dusts with less than 10 Ω system resistance.
  • Internally, the unit is rated Category 1G/1D (Ex h IIC T6 Ga / Ex h IIIC T50°C Da), making it suitable for direct recovery of dust inside the tank and filter chamber.
  • Externally, this Z21 version is optimized for installation in dust Zone 21, although the ATEX marking II 1/2GD allows use in Zones 1, 2, 21 and 22 when properly installed and grounded.
  • The temperature range for the dry dust collector is -5 °C to +37 °C. The enclosure is IP65-rated and tested according to EN 17348 as a Dry Type dust collector.
  • For highly conductive metal and pyrotechnic dusts, Tiger-Vac’s explosion-proof tool kits (static dissipative < 10 Ω) are mandatory and listed in the technical documentation.

Typical applications in food and pharmaceutical production

The CD/EUR-36L EX DT (MRP) ULPA Z21 is designed for dry recovery of combustible or hazardous dust around process equipment in the food and pharmaceutical industries. Typical uses include tablet presses, capsule machines, powder handling, mixers, granulators, filling lines, bag/big bag unloading, and recovery of fine ingredients such as lactose, starch, sugar or excipients. The stainless-steel construction, ULPA filtration and smooth, cleanroom-compatible surfaces make it well suited for GMP environments requiring strict cleanliness and documentation.

Technical note

With internal Category 1D and external Category 2D, the CD/EUR-36L EX DT (MRP) ULPA Z21 can be installed both close to process equipment and as the power unit for smaller piped central vacuum systems in Zone 21. According to EN 17348 and ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU, the operator must ensure correct bonding and grounding of pipes, hoses, tools and connected machinery, and use only static conductive or antistatic accessories approved for explosive atmospheres. Use the supplied multimeter to verify grounding resistance remains below required values and include periodic ULPA filter testing as part of the facility’s quality system.

FAQ

What is the difference between this ULPA version and the HEPA version?
The ULPA version includes a U15 filter with 99.999% efficiency at 0.12 µm and 99.9995% at 0.18 µm. It is aerosol leak-tested and provides significantly higher filtration efficiency, making it ideal for critical food/pharma applications.

Which ATEX zones can the CD/EUR-36L EX DT (MRP) ULPA Z21 operate in?
Although marketed for Zone 21, the II 1/2GD marking allows use—when correctly installed and grounded—in Zones 1, 2, 21 and 22.

Is it suitable for pharmaceutical and food production?
Yes. All product-contact surfaces are AISI 304 stainless steel, the recovery tank is detachable and the ULPA filtration makes it suitable for cleanroom environments up to ISO Class 4.

Does the filter cleaning system require compressed air?
No. The Manual Reverse Purge (MRP) system reverses airflow through the filter pleats using an integrated mechanism, allowing safe cleaning without compressed air.

What about metal or pyrotechnic dust?
For these highly conductive dust types, Tiger-Vac’s explosion-proof static dissipative tools (< 10 Ω) are mandatory. Contact us for application-specific guidance.
