Why this hose?

Welding generates a combination of thermal load and mechanical wear: glowing metal particles, sparks, fumes at varying temperatures. CP HiTex® 467 WELDING is built for exactly that combination. The construction combines the galvanised steel spiral from the rest of the CP HiTex family with a flame-retardant core that resists direct spark contact without igniting.

The difference from sister product CP HiTex® 480 lies in the flame-retardant property and dimensional breadth. 480 covers broader sizes (Ø 38–1016 mm) but lacks the flame-retardant feature. 467 WELDING is specific to local extraction installations at welding stations: dimensions from 50 to 200 mm match typical welding fume hoses on robotic welding and mobile installations.

Like the rest of the CP HiTex family it is vacuum- and low-pressure oriented — the hose is not specified for positive working pressure. Bend radius values are moderate, so the hose can be installed in compact pipe runs at welding robots or move with an extraction arm. REACH and RoHS are complied with.

Important context

High-temperature hoses are not pressure hoses. The CP HiTex series is designed for vacuum and low-pressure extraction of hot media — it is not specified for positive working pressure. Attempting to pressurise the hose above specified vacuum limits will deform the construction.

Thermal expansion must be considered in the installation — the hose changes length by several centimetres when operating from room temperature to +400 °C. Allow free length change or use expansion compensators.

Where it is used

The hose is used where temperature exceeds what polymer hoses can handle — typically in exhaust and extraction systems on industrial furnaces, boilers and engine test benches.

Typical installations are municipal sweeping vehicles with diesel engine exhaust, extraction from welding robots, and exhaust gas lines from furnaces in glass, ceramics and refractory industry.

In paper industry, glass industry, automotive industry the metallic construction is an advantage — it resists both thermal load and sparks from the process, where polymer materials would melt or ignite.

The formal name is CP HiTex® 467 WELDING. In daily use, many simply call it "the welding fume hose", "the WELDING hose" or "the flame-retardant CP HiTex". All three work.

When to choose the WELDING variant over 480?

When the hose wall has direct contact with sparks, glowing particles or flame exposure. 480 is the broad workhorse for hot media; WELDING is built specifically to withstand sparks and direct thermal impulse loading. Choose WELDING for welding, flame cutting and hot work.

Note: Fields without a value (—) are not specified in the manufacturer's factsheet. I.D. (inner diameter) is not always specified by the manufacturer — it depends on the clamp profile fit. Weight and dimensions refer to the standard black variant; INOX variant and double-layer variant are also available. Bend radius is measured along the inside of the hose.

Standards and compliance

The hose is tested and certified to the following standards:

  • REACH (EC 1907/2006). EU regulation on registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemicals. The hose's materials are REACH-compliant; manufacturer's declaration is available for download.
  • RoHS (Directive 2011/65/EU). Restriction of Hazardous Substances — restriction on the use of certain hazardous substances in electronic products. The hose's components comply with RoHS limit values.

Industries that use it

The hose is used across a wide range of industries — below is an overview of the most typical industries where CP HiTex® 467 WELDING is used:

The hose's primary application is welding industries and metalworking, where it forms part of local extraction systems at welding stations, robotic welders and flame-cutting stations. The flame-retardant core makes it particularly suitable where sparks hit the hose wall directly — typically in mobile installations or on extraction arms that follow the workpiece.

In automotive and vehicle production it is used in assembly-line welding installations where robots produce welding fume and particles at high pace. In glass industry and ceramic industry it handles hot particles from firing and melting processes. In paper industry it sits at hot zones in drying processes where spark risk is a secondary factor.

In HVAC and climate installations it is a choice when an ordinary metal hose does not provide sufficient safety against sparks from surrounding processes. The common thread across industries is that both heat and particle safety must be in place — and that the hose is mounted close to the spark source.

Custom lengths and assemblies

CP HiTex® 467 WELDING can be cut to length and assembled with couplings, cuffs and threads to fit your installation precisely. We produce complete hose assemblies with crimped ferrules, clamp collars or threaded connections, depending on what the process requires.

We advise on coupling types and assembly solutions suited to your specific application, so the installation is reliable and easy to maintain.

Frequently asked questions

How high a temperature can the hose handle?

The specific temperature range is shown in the factsheet for each variant — typically +400 to +500 °C in normal operation with short-term peaks higher. Exceeding the limit significantly reduces service life.

Can the hose be used at positive working pressure?

Not specified. The CP HiTex series is designed for vacuum and low-pressure extraction. Use at positive pressure requires specific approval from the manufacturer.

What makes the clamp profile construction special?

The clamp profile is the external steel band that is clamped between the spiral windings. It provides a smooth, mechanically robust outer wall that resists wear and thermal expansion better than unshielded spiral constructions.

Can the hose be used outdoors?

Yes, but UV and moisture will affect the galvanised steel spiral over time. For long-term outdoor installation it should be protected from direct weather — or a variant with stainless steel spiral can be selected.

Is the hose ATEX-approved?

No. The CP HiTex series is metallic construction without specific ATEX marking. For ATEX use at elevated temperatures, other variants are available — contact Particulair for guidance.
