NAFTREX/B
NAFTREX/B is a specialised textile-braided fuel hose with NBR lining and NBR outer coating, qualified per DIN 73379 March 1982 Type B - the German standard for fuel hoses on engines and machinery. The hose is tested for modern fuel blends E10 (10% ethanol), E85 (85% ethanol) and B20 (20% biodiesel) as well as diesel. SAE J30 American standard is also noted. 12 dimensions from ID 3.2 mm to 11.5 mm cover the typical dimensions for OEM fuel supply. Typically used in automotive, truck, marine and agricultural vehicles.

Why this hose?
The DIN 73379 Type B qualification is the central element in NAFTREX/B's value proposition. The standard specifies not only material stability and pressure rating, but also cyclic service life requirements, fuel exposure tests and low-temperature flexibility. NBR-based fuel hoses are the industry-recognised choice because the material meets all these requirements.
Textile braiding is what makes the hose both flexible and pressure-stable. Unlike metal spiral reinforcement, textile braiding allows continuous bending without the seams opening, while providing collapse resistance under suction and tensile strength under pressure. It is a standard construction for fuel hoses.
E85, B20 and E10 resistance is a modern qualification. Standard NBR formulations from the 1980s could not resist high-proof ethanol blends - modern NBR (especially with XNBR modifications) is specifically formulated for these blends. NAFTREX/B is qualified for the modern blends that are standard at European and American petrol stations.
Where it is used
Automotive industry and truck manufacturing use the hose as primary fuel hose on engines and fuel systems. The wide dimension portfolio (12 dimensions) covers from smaller injector supply (3.2 mm) to main fuel pipes (11.5 mm) on large truck engines.
Agricultural machinery manufacturers use the hose for fuel distribution on tractors, harvesters and self-propelled agricultural equipment. NAFTREX/B is qualified for biodiesel B20 blends that are standard at modern farms, and the low temperature limit ensures the hose does not become brittle in winter weather.
Marine and generator manufacturing use the hose for diesel supply on ships, boats and industrial generators. The SAE J30 + DIN 73379 combination covers most international standard requirements, and the NBR construction tolerates the varying fuel qualities typically found in marine applications.
The hose is colloquially known as a fuel hose, diesel hose or DIN 73379 hose.

Industries that use it
NAFTREX/B is used where fuel hose on engines and machinery must be qualified per DIN 73379 Type B - typically in automotive, agricultural, marine and mechanical engineering.
Automotive industry and truck manufacturing is the main market. Fuel supply on diesel and petrol engines requires DIN 73379 qualified hoses - NAFTREX/B is typically the right choice on OEM fuel system installations. The NBR lining tolerates diesel, petrol and modern biodiesel blends over several years of operation.
Agriculture uses the hose for diesel filling and fuel distribution on tractors and self-propelled agricultural machines. The low temperature limit (-35 C) is particularly valuable in Nordic climates where frost exposure is a reality. Textile braiding prevents the hose from stretching under cycling from fuel pumps.
Marine and industrial machinery use the hose as standard fuel hose on diesel generators and auxiliary engines. SAE J30 American standard is required on some international applications, and the hose is qualified for this additional reference.
Custom lengths and assemblies
The hose can be delivered cut to desired lengths. The standard roll can be supplemented with shorter pieces or multiple rolls by arrangement.

Frequently asked questions
What is NAFTREX/B particularly suitable for?
The hose is a specialised fuel hose with textile braiding and NBR lining + NBR outer coating. The hose is qualified per DIN 73379 March 1982 Type B - the German standard for fuel hoses on engines and machinery. It is tested for E85, B20 and E10 fuel blends as well as diesel. SAE J30 American standard is also noted.
What is DIN 73379 Type B?
DIN 73379 March 1982 is the German standard for fuel hoses on vehicles and machinery. Type B specifies hoses for diesel, petrol and mixed fuels (E10, E85, B20). The standard defines material stability, pressure and temperature resistance and service life requirements. NAFTREX/B is specifically qualified per this standard.
What do E85, B20 and E10 cover?
These are modern fuel blends: E10 (10% ethanol in petrol - standard in many European countries), E85 (85% ethanol blend for flex-fuel vehicles), B20 (20% biodiesel blend). The NBR lining is specifically formulated to resist these fuel types over time without the wall softening or fuel aromatic substances migrating.
How many dimensions are in the range?
12 dimensions from ID 3.2 mm to 11.5 mm - a wide portfolio of typical dimensions for fuel hoses on engines and machinery. All have the same pressure rating (10 bar PN, 30 bar burst) and 20 m standard roll length. This is typical for fuel hoses - the dimensions match OEM injectors and supply systems.
What is the operating temperature?
-35 C lower limit and +90 C max temperature (hot water). This covers typical fuel temperatures on engines (typically +60-90 C in operation) and low temperatures in Nordic climates. For higher temperatures (above +100 C, e.g. exhaust proximity) we recommend a silicone or flame-retardant variant.
Which couplings are recommended?
For fuel applications, hose-end couplings with metal crimp clamps or specialised fuel fittings (typically 1/4-28 UNF or M14x1.5) are recommended. Standard worm-drive clamps work but may slip in cyclic operation with high-pressure peaks. We typically fit couplings to the hose by arrangement.
Is the hose ATEX-approved?
The hose has NO explicit ATEX declaration on the factsheet. The NBR lining is typically insulating. For ATEX zones with fuel vapours (zone 1 or 2) a conductive or antistatic variant may be required - contact us for ATEX-suitable fuel hoses if your installation requires it.
How long does the hose last?
The NBR construction has long service life in fuel application - typically 5-10 years depending on fuel type, operating frequency and temperature. E85 and B20 blends are more aggressive than pure petrol and can shorten service life. Annual visual inspection for crack formation, softening or discolouration is recommended.
