CP HYP 450 PROTECT
Vibration-resistant exhaust hose with external protection profile. Designed for extraction of engine exhaust gases at temperatures up to +200 °C. Highly flexible and compressible. The protection profile gives the hose extra mechanical protection against impact and abrasion in workshop environments. Typically used in vehicle workshops, dynamometers and emission test facilities.

Why this hose?
CP HYP 450 PROTECT is related to the CP ARAMID 461 PROTECT variant — both have the characteristic external protection profile. The difference lies in temperature: HYP 450 is optimised for medium-high temperatures up to +200 °C, while ARAMID 461 goes higher (+300 °C) at the price of slightly higher material cost.
In vehicle workshop environments +200 °C is sufficient for most passenger vehicle exhausts. For larger trucks, diesel exhausts or engine test benches where temperatures may go higher, ARAMID 461 is chosen instead.
Where it is used
In vehicle workshops with pits or lift-bridges it's a standard choice for passenger vehicle exhaust extraction. +200 °C covers most passenger cars at idle and light load.
At emission test facilities it's often permanently installed as a connection between the test vehicle and the measurement equipment. Vibration resistance is critical here — the test often runs for seconds or minutes with strong engine vibrations.
In everyday talk we call it a "workshop exhaust hose" — the protection profile and the moderate +200 °C limit are what distinguish it from metal hoses.

Fields without a value (—) are not specified in the manufacturer's factsheet. Overpressure and underpressure values are recommended operating limits; the product can be subjected to higher loads on request. Bend radius is measured along the inside of the hose bend.
Standards and compliance

Help with material selection
Although this hose isn't ATEX-relevant, these two articles provide useful background on electrical resistance and industrial safety — important if you later combine the hose with electrical equipment or work in mixed environments:
The invisible weakest link
Why a conductive or antistatic hose isn't sufficient on its own — and what grounding means for the complete system.
Know your ohm
The difference between antistatic and conductive, which resistance limits apply where, and how to measure them correctly.
Industries that use it
CP HYP 450 PROTECT is used where moderate high temperature combines with vibration and abrasion load:
In vehicle workshops it's standard for passenger vehicle exhaust. Here the +200 °C temperature is sufficient, and the price is attractive compared to the ARAMID variant covering +300 °C.
At emission test facilities it's often permanently installed — the vibration resistance means the hose doesn't fatigue over time despite constant test cycles.
Custom lengths and assemblies
The hose is delivered on 10 m and 15 m rolls. We cut to length and fit exhaust nozzle couplings or standard flange solutions.
For workshop installations we can establish standard configurations.

Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between CP HYP 450 PROTECT and CP ARAMID 461 PROTECT?
Both have external protection profile and are designed for exhaust extraction. HYP 450 covers up to +200 °C — suits passenger cars. ARAMID 461 covers up to +300 °C — suits trucks, diesels and engine test benches. Choose HYP 450 if your application is under +200 °C; choose ARAMID 461 at higher temperatures.
What is HYP wall?
HYP is the manufacturer's designation for a specific high-temperature polymer blend. It sits material-wise between standard PVC and aramid — better temperature resistance than PVC, lower cost than aramid.
Does it tolerate +200 °C continuously?
Yes, +200 °C is specified as the operating limit, not as peak. This means continuous service at that temperature is acceptable within the hose's expected lifetime.
How long is the lifetime in a vehicle workshop?
Typically 2-4 years with daily use. The protection profile wears first (visible as surface discolouration or cracks) and is a good indicator of replacement timing before the hose itself is compromised.
Is it ATEX-approved?
No. The HYP wall is insulating without conductive or antistatic properties.
Can I get it with standard exhaust nozzle couplings?
Yes. We fit standard couplings that match most exhaust extraction systems in workshops — contact us with specific brand info, and we'll suggest the right match.
