Liquid hoses

GOLDSCHLANGE

GOLDSCHLANGE is a heavy-duty water hose with EPDM lining and wrapped CR outer layer. The construction is kink, impact and drive-over resistant - relevant in agriculture, construction and industry where the hose is subjected to mechanical impacts and UV exposure. Wide temperature capacity (up to 100 C continuous, 130 C at steam cleaning) also makes it suitable for high-pressure and hygiene applications.

Why this hose?

GOLDSCHLANGE is built on a simple philosophy: if a standard water hose does not last, build one that does. The CR outer layer is chosen because it is ozone and UV resistant and also harder than EPDM - giving mechanical wear resistance. The EPDM lining provides chemical resistance to water media and coolant additives.

Wrapped construction (vs extruded) is a specific manufacturing technique that increases strength without increasing weight. Textile plies distributed along the hose's axis prevent it from stretching under pressure or breaking under bending.

The high working pressure (30 bar on the smallest dimensions) is not just a pressure rating - it reflects the combined construction of hold-strength from textile plies, external wear resistance from CR, and inner EPDM's elastomer elasticity. Together this gives a hose that delivers 5-10x lower replacement frequency than ordinary water hoses.

Where it is used

Agriculture and horticulture use the hose as universal water distribution. It can lie in the field for years without degrading, and tolerates being driven over by tractors and storage systems without permanent damage. The high pressure resistance (up to 30 bar) is relevant in pump systems.

Building sites use the hose for concrete mixing, water supply and high-pressure cleaning. The broad temperature capacity includes operation with brief hot water from steam systems or vehicle cleaning.

Industry (injection moulding, glass, chemistry, plastics) use the hose in internal process water and cooling installations. The steam-cleaning capacity (up to 130 C) is a major plus in hygiene-relevant applications.

GOLDSCHLANGE is colloquially known as a gold hose (after the colour convention) or heavy-duty water hose.

Fields without a value (—) are not specified in the manufacturer's factsheet. Overpressure and underpressure values are recommended operating limits; the product can be subjected to higher loads on request. Bend radius is measured along the inside of the hose bend.

Standards and compliance

The hose is manufactured to European standards for industrial rubber hoses.

  • EN ISO 1307:2008. European standard for rubber and thermoplastic hoses for general use.
  • EN ISO 8033:2016. Test of adhesion between lining, wall material and reinforcement.
  • EN ISO 7233:2016. Determination of vacuum resistance.
  • EN 853 / EN 856. Hydraulic and high-pressure hose standards. Relevant for the hose's pressure resistance under cyclic operation.
  • RoHS Directive (2011/65/EU). Restriction of hazardous substances.
  • REACH (EC 1907/2006). Registration of chemical substances.
  • ISO 9001:2015. Quality management system at the manufacturer.

Help with material selection

Although this hose isn't ATEX-relevant, these two articles provide useful background on electrical resistance and industrial safety — important if you later combine the hose with electrical equipment or work in mixed environments:

Industries that use it

GOLDSCHLANGE is used in industries where a water hose must be able to withstand daily heavy load - typically in agriculture, construction and industry where mechanical wear, UV exposure and temperature shifts are normal operating conditions.

Agriculture and horticulture is the main market. Irrigation and fertilizer systems require a hose that lies outdoors, is driven over by tractors and stands in sun and frost. The CR outer layer's UV resistance combined with textile reinforcement is decisive - a standard water hose would break down within 1-2 seasons.

Construction industry uses the hose for water distribution on building sites, concrete mixing and high-pressure cleaning. Drive-over resistance is a specific feature - construction vehicles can pass without the hose taking permanent damage.

Industry (chemistry, plastics, glass, mechanical) use the hose for process water distribution and cooling installations. Temperature capacity up to 130 C with steam cleaning allows hygiene cycles without removing the hose.

Custom lengths and assemblies

The hose can be delivered cut to desired lengths. The standard roll can be supplemented with shorter pieces or multiple rolls by arrangement.

Frequently asked questions

What makes GOLDSCHLANGE particularly robust?

Three factors make the hose a heavy-duty solution: 1) thicker wall (3.9-5+ mm) than standard water hoses, 2) wrapped CR outer layer that resists mechanical wear and impact, and 3) textile plies as reinforcement. The hose can be driven over without permanent deformation - i.e. relevant on building sites and in agriculture where vehicles may pass.

Which media can be handled?

Water, fertilizers, mineral oils, and mild aqueous solutions. EPDM lining combined with CR outer layer provides broad chemical resistance spectrum. NOT suitable for strong acids, bases or halogenated solvents. For dilute slurry and industrial water the hose is optimal.

Which dimensions does GOLDSCHLANGE come in?

A wide range from ID 13 mm and up. The pressure class falls gradually with increasing ID (30 bar at 13 mm down to 20 bar at 25 mm and beyond). This gives significantly higher pressure resistance than standard water hoses - relevant in high-pressure cleaning and pump applications.

Can the hose handle steam cleaning?

Yes - up to 130 C briefly for steam cleaning. This is one of the highest levels for water-rated hoses and makes GOLDSCHLANGE well-suited to hygiene cycles in agriculture, horticulture and food industry.

Is the hose UV and ozone resistant?

Yes - the CR outer layer is specifically chosen for ozone and UV resistance. The hose can lie visibly outdoors on building sites and in the field for years without degradation. This sets it apart from many standard PVC and NBR hoses that degrade under prolonged UV exposure.

What is the bend radius for GOLDSCHLANGE?

50 mm for the 13 mm ID variant up to 160 mm for the 25 mm variant - widely usable for most practical installations. Going below the bend radius can cause kink damage. Use support bends at sharp angles.

How long does the hose last?

The hose's robust construction makes it one of the more durable water hoses on the market. Daily professional use in agriculture or construction typically gives 5-10 years service life - significantly higher than standard water hoses that often need replacement every 2-3 years.

Can GOLDSCHLANGE be used for drinking water?

The hose is not explicitly approved for drinking water contact (no EU 1935/2004 or FDA approval on the factsheet). For drinking water applications a variant with explicit approval is required - contact us if necessary for your installation.
