Liquid hoses
PYTHON
PYTHON is a robust EPDM water hose with conductive wall below 10⁶ ohm in both inner tube and outer coating. The hose is specifically designed for deck wash on ships and general water distribution at hot temperatures. The operating range -40 to +110 C with peak up to +130 C is particularly broad for a water hose. PN 20 bar working pressure and 60 bar burst pressure (3x safety factor). 4 dimensions (ID 13-32 mm) with smooth outer coating on small dimensions and fabric-patterned on large. Typically used in marine, municipal services, agriculture and industry where a hot-water-resistant conductive water hose is required.

Why this hose?
The EPDM construction is the key to PYTHON's broad temperature range and marine suitability. Unlike PVC (limited to about +60 C) or PUR (limited to about +90 C), EPDM can handle continuously up to +110 C without material degradation. EPDM also resists saltwater better than NR (natural rubber), making the hose specifically suitable for marine applications.
The conductive wall below 10⁶ ohm is a safety property in industrial and marine applications where static charge can build up. This is particularly valuable in marine installations where insulating hoses on metal ship decks can generate static electricity that could trigger sparks.
The smooth-to-fabric-patterned design transition at 32 mm is a specific construction detail. Smooth coating is more flexible and fits smaller dimensions; fabric-patterned provides better wear resistance and better handling grip for larger dimensions. This is an optimisation for each dimension's application pattern.
Where it is used
Marine applications use the hose for deck wash and general water distribution on ships. The green outer coating is industry convention for marine water hoses and easily visible on ship decks. Saltwater resistance is critical in marine applications where other hose types quickly degrade.
Municipal services (water trucks, street cleaning) use the hose for hot-water cleaning of road surfaces and municipal facilities. PN 20 bar pressure rating is plenty for most municipal high-pressure cleaning pumps.
Agriculture and industry use the hose for hot-water cleaning of stables, equipment and production facilities. EPDM's resistance to hot water and cleaning chemicals makes the hose suitable for daily operation with temperatures 60-100 C.
The hose is colloquially known as a deck wash hose, marine water hose or green EPDM hose.

Standards and compliance
The hose is qualified per the central standards for industrial hoses with electrical properties.
- EN ISO 1307:2008. European standard for rubber and thermoplastic hoses for general use.
- ISO 8031. Determination of electrical and surface resistance in rubber and plastic hoses. The hose's core is tested below 10⁶ Ω.
- EN 12115. European standard for rubber and thermoplastic hoses for liquids and chemicals.
- RoHS Directive (2011/65/EU). Restriction of hazardous substances.
- REACH (EC 1907/2006). Registration of chemical substances.
- ISO 9001:2015. Quality management system at the manufacturer.
- ATEX 2014/34/EU. EU directive for equipment in potentially explosive atmospheres. The hose has conductive wall, but explicit ATEX declaration is not in the factsheet.

Industries that use it
PYTHON is used where a robust hot-water-resistant conductive water hose is required - typically in marine, municipal services, agriculture and general industry.
Marine and shipbuilding is the main market. Deck wash on large ships requires a hose that tolerates saltwater, UV exposure and hot temperatures from hot-water cleaning systems. EPDM resists saltwater better than PVC, and the conductive wall discharges charge that may arise from metal ship decks and air flow.
Municipal services use the hose for water distribution and surface cleaning on roads and municipal facilities. The broad temperature range allows the hose to handle both winter frost and hot-water cleaning applications.
Agriculture and horticulture use the hose for irrigation, livestock washing and general water distribution. Hot-water cleaning of stables and equipment is a regular procedure, and PYTHON's +110 C range covers these applications.
Custom lengths and assemblies
The hose can be delivered cut to desired lengths. The standard roll can be supplemented with shorter pieces or multiple rolls by arrangement.

Frequently asked questions
What is PYTHON particularly suitable for?
PYTHON is a robust EPDM water hose with conductive wall below 10⁶ ohm. The hose is specifically designed for transport of air, cold and hot water, and is optimally suited as deck wash hose on ships. The operating range is particularly broad: -40 to +110 C continuous with peak up to +130 C. This makes the hose suitable for hot-water applications where other PVC-based hoses would lose integrity.
Why is the hose conductive?
The conductive wall below 10⁶ ohm discharges static electricity to ground. This is a safety property in industrial applications where water flow or air flow can build static charge. PYTHON's conductivity is particularly valuable in marine installations where metal surfaces, saltwater and air flow can generate charge that could trigger sparks.
What is the difference between the 25 mm version and the larger dimensions?
The factsheet notes that hoses up to ID 25 mm have smooth outer coating, and from ID 32 mm it has a fabric-patterned outer coating. This is a construction difference: smooth coating is more flexible for smaller dimensions, and fabric-pattern provides better wear resistance and better grip in handling for larger dimensions.
How many dimensions are in the range?
4 dimensions: ID 13, 19, 25 and 32 mm. All have the same pressure rating (20 bar PN, 60 bar burst) and 40 m standard roll length. The 25 mm version is also available in 80 m length. These are typical dimensions for deck wash, irrigation and municipal water distribution.
What is the operating temperature?
-40 to +110 C continuous with short-term peak up to +130 C. This is a particularly broad temperature range for a water hose and covers from frost-exposed installations to hot-water cleaning. EPDM retains flexibility at -40 C and tolerates hot water up to +110 C without material degradation.
Is the hose suitable for deck wash on ships?
Yes - the factsheet explicitly specifies the hose as optimally suited as deck wash hose on ships. The broad temperature range, saltwater compatibility (EPDM resists salt) and UV resistance make it a standard solution on ship facilities. The green outer coating is also industry convention for marine water hoses.
Which couplings are recommended?
For 20 bar working pressure, metal crimp clamps or standard hose-end couplings are recommended. For marine applications, brass or stainless steel couplings are recommended due to salt exposure. We typically fit couplings to the hose by arrangement.
Is the hose ATEX-approved?
The hose's wall is conductive (below 10⁶ ohm), making it suitable for ATEX zone 22 and potentially zone 1 installations. The factsheet does not however specify an explicit ATEX 2014/34/EU directive declaration. For formal ATEX installation we recommend cross-checking with your local risk assessment.
