PROMETHEUS is a robust floor nozzle for continuous vacuuming of floor surfaces in ATEX-classified production environments. The construction combines stainless steel and steel with antistatic rubber contact parts that ensure equipotential bonding throughout the system. Adjustable wheels maintain correct working height for even, efficient coverage of large floor areas. The steel connector version connects via quick-fit to double bend floor wands.

Applications

PROMETHEUS ATEX is designed for continuous floor vacuuming in explosion-classified production environments where flammable materials are handled in powder or dust form. Typical industries:

Food production — flour, starch, sugar, grain and granulate
Chemical industry — explosive powder and granulate
Woodworking — sawdust and fine wood dust
Metal processing — aluminium and magnesium powder
Coal processing — coal and coke dust

Important: PROMETHEUS ATEX is not ATEX-certified as a product. The antistatic rubber contact parts (version A) enable equipotential bonding within a complete ATEX-approved system. It is the installer’s and user’s responsibility to verify suitability for the specific ATEX-classified environment, zone and dust class.

Connection: Quick-fit steel connector

The steel connector version has a fixed coupling stud that clicks directly into double bend floor wands with quick-fit coupling. The connection is fast, secure and free of loose parts. Preferred for fixed workstations and stationary systems.

Fixed coupling stud — the wand clicks in and locks. Compatible with double bend floor wands in aluminium, chrome and stainless steel AISI 304 with quick-fit coupling (wands R65081G, R65082G, R65148G, R65067G).

Variant: Bristle strip

Dry dust and powder

The bristle variant has PP bristle strips along the full width of the nozzle. Available in two bristle types: plain polypropylene (PPL) for standard ATEX use, and polypropylene with brass wire (PPLBR) for increased conductivity and finer dust collection.

Liquids and semi-fluid materials

The squeegee variant has a rubber lip along the full width of the nozzle. Available with grey rubber lip (L) for general use or black ESD rubber lip (L)(A) with antistatic properties for ATEX Zone 21 and Zone 22. The lip seals against the floor surface for effective collection of liquids and semi-fluid materials.

Antistatic rubber (ESD)

PP+brass bristle strips (PPLBR) and black ESD rubber squeegee lip both have antistatic properties. The combination of stainless steel and antistatic rubber enables continuous equipotential bonding in ATEX Zone 21 and Zone 22.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between PROMETHEUS steel connector and swivel connector?

The steel connector has a fixed coupling stud that connects via quick-fit to double bend floor wands with coupling. It is the preferred solution for fixed workstations and stationary systems. The swivel connector provides 360° rotation and is best for mobile systems and long, heavy hose runs. The connection method and compatible wands differ — see the PROMETHEUS swivel page for details.

When should I choose the bristle variant over the squeegee?

The bristle variant (S) is best for collecting dry dust, powder and granulate on hard floor surfaces. The squeegee variant (L) is best for collecting liquids, semi-fluid spills and wet-lying materials. For ATEX use, always specify the (A) version with black ESD rubber lip.

What is the difference between PPL and PPLBR bristles?

PPL is plain polypropylene suitable for standard ATEX floor cleaning. PPLBR is polypropylene with interwoven brass wire, which increases the bristles’ conductivity and improves collection of finer dust particles. PPLBR is recommended in environments with very fine dust such as flour, starch and cement dust.

Is PROMETHEUS ATEX-certified?

PROMETHEUS ATEX is not ATEX-certified as a product. The antistatic rubber contact parts (version A) enable equipotential bonding within a complete ATEX-approved system. It is the installer’s and user’s responsibility to verify suitability for the specific ATEX-classified environment and zone.

Which floor wand dimensions are compatible?

PROMETHEUS steel connector is available in Ø38, Ø40 and Ø50 mm and uses quick-fit coupling. Compatible double bend floor wands: R65081G, R65082G, R65148G and R65067G in aluminium, chrome and stainless steel AISI 304.

Is PROMETHEUS available in a Food/Pharma version?

PROMETHEUS is only available in the ATEX version. For food and pharma environments with FDA requirements, we offer ICEBERG — the same construction but in stainless steel with FDA-compatible silicone contact parts (Wacker R 4001 80, FDA 21 CFR 177.2600, BfR Recommendation XV).
