About Particulair

We help you make the right choice in environments where a wrong decision is not an option — from ATEX zones and GMP cleanrooms to food production and the defence sector.

Particulair is a Danish B2B company supplying equipment and decision support for critical environments: ATEX zones, GMP cleanrooms, life science, food production, the defence sector and other controlled environments. We have been in the industry since 1989, and the company Particulair was founded in 2012. When dust, granulates or process conditions can threaten people, machinery and surroundings, we help you find solutions that hold up — technically, in regulatory terms and in practice.

From the sea to the mainland

Explosion protection has been our field since before the ATEX directives existed. We started in an era without harmonised standards, when the offshore industry understood the problem long before legislation reached the mainland: on platforms and ships, surrounded by flammable gases under pressure, a single spark was no theoretical scenario. In that environment we learned that equipment for potentially explosive atmospheres is either safe or a no-go — and we supplied stainless-steel industrial vacuum cleaners with documented antistatic discharge and compressed-air-driven solutions for places where electric motors were not allowed.

In 1991 we became part of the pharma ecosystem when a production department in Novo Nordisk's insulin production asked for our help: a small, compact vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filter, low noise level and simple handling. Back then, validation, airborne risks and particle levels were an abstract notion when the subject was vacuum cleaners — but the requirements changed, and we changed with them.

When the ATEX workplace directive was approaching entry into force in Denmark, the transition was not a conversion for us but a formalisation of a mindset we knew inside out. In 2002 we received our first formal training in the directive, and by 2004 our range already covered all four zones — dust and gas, Zones 22, 21, 2 and 1. Since then, the harmonisation of EN 17348:2022, the first dedicated European standard for ATEX-certified industrial vacuum cleaners, has made certifications sharper and documentation requirements clearer. For us, it was a confirmation of a direction we had followed for decades.

Advice before sales

We are not a webshop. We have no basket, no checkout and no standard prices online — and that is a deliberate decision. The environments we supply are too complex and too critical for a product purchase to happen without dialogue. Choosing equipment for an ATEX zone, an OEB-classified environment or an ISO-certified cleanroom requires a conversation about your zone, your dust, your mode of operation and your documentation requirements. We don't just pick a product off the shelf; we start from your environment — and we stand behind the solution afterwards.

When we step into a production facility, we don't just see hoses and machines. We see airways, flow directions, risk analyses and validation requirements. We are passionate about making complex rules and standards understandable — the ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU, EN 17348, IEC 60335-2-69, dust class H, GMP and food-contact requirements such as FDA 21 CFR and EU 1935/2004 — and translating them into clear recommendations, practical equipment and documentation that stands up to audits.

Four specialist areas

Our knowledge is organised into four specialist areas, each with its own dedicated site with products, documentation and technical knowledge:

  • Ex-Vac — ATEX and ESD vacuum cleaners for potentially explosive zones: dust, gas and combined zones.
  • Life Science — industrial dust and wet extraction for pharma, cleanrooms and laboratories: ULPA, HEPA and OEB.
  • FlexCore — technical and industrial hoses, assembled to your specification, including ready-to-use deliveries with documentation.
  • VACE — vacuum-cleaner accessories in two certification lines: antistatic for ATEX/ESD and FDA-compliant for FOOD/PHARMA.

We install — and we stick around

When you choose Particulair, you don't just choose a supplier but a partner who makes sure your equipment is installed correctly, documented and adjusted to your environment. We offer installation, commissioning and service on both central systems and mobile solutions, and we make sure the equipment is continuously maintained and complies with the applicable requirements — including ATEX inspections, filter changes and annual servicing.

All of our solutions are chosen with an eye to long service life, low operating load and high safety. We use 100 % CO₂-neutral green electricity in our operations and prioritise partners who share our ambition to minimise environmental impact.

Market and network

We serve production and process environments across the EU, with a particular focus on Scandinavia and Poland, and work closely with end users, engineers and OEM manufacturers alike. We believe in relationships, expertise and technical solutions that hold up in the real world — not in standard solutions shipped in a box without dialogue. If you have a project, a problem or a question about the requirements in your environment, we normally respond within one working day.
