Why this hose?

NORPLAST® PVC 383 is the most versatile hose in the NORPLAST PVC range — not specialised for one specific medium but a broad multi-purpose suction hose. It covers gases, abrasive dusts, chemicals at operating temperature and light liquid media.

The broad application range makes the hose a standard choice in industry, agriculture and medical technology when establishing a versatile base installation. Specific specialisation (food-grade, ATEX, high-temperature) however requires other variants.

Where it is used

In agriculture it's used for irrigation and fertiliser distribution. In medical technology it often sits in installation contexts — typically as air supply for non-critical equipment branches.

In general industry it functions as a universal hose for daily transport tasks where specialisation isn't needed. The price/performance ratio is attractive for non-demanding applications.

In everyday talk we call it a "multi-purpose suction hose" — it covers broadly without being a specialist.

Fields without a value (—) are not specified in the manufacturer's factsheet. Overpressure and underpressure values are recommended operating limits; the product can be subjected to higher loads on request. Bend radius is measured along the inside of the hose bend.

Standards and compliance

NORPLAST® PVC 383 conforms to:

  • REACH (EC 1907/2006). The manufacturer's REACH declaration is available for download.
  • RoHS. Directive 2011/65/EU.

Help with material selection

Although this hose isn't ATEX-relevant, these two articles provide useful background on electrical resistance and industrial safety — important if you later combine the hose with electrical equipment or work in mixed environments:

Industries that use it

NORPLAST® PVC 383 is used across industries as a universal hose:

In agriculture and industry it's a versatile standard choice. In medical technology it's used for light non-critical applications — cable protection and air supply to auxiliary equipment.

The broad media coverage means the same hose type can be used across multiple processes in the same facility, simplifying procurement and inventory.

Custom lengths and assemblies

The hose is delivered on 50 m rolls. We cut to length and fit fittings or couplings as a finished assembly.

For serial deliveries we can establish consistent assembly across the delivery.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between NORPLAST® PVC 383 and PVC 379 COSMO?

PVC 383 is the broad multi-purpose variant — covering a wider range of media (gas, dust, chemicals at op temp, light liquids). PVC 379 COSMO is specifically for light agri applications (water, fertiliser, seeds). Choose 383 for versatile industrial use; choose 379 for pure agri.

Is it chemically resistant?

PVC has good general resistance to diluted acids and bases, common solvents and industrial gases at operating temperature (up to +60 °C). For specific aggressive chemicals cross-check the resistance table — or choose a CP series hose (PTFE or HYP).

Can I use it for drinking water?

No. PVC 383 is not food-grade certified. For drinking water choose NORPLAST® PVC 380 GREEN (EU 10/2011 cat A·B·C).

Does it tolerate vacuum?

Yes, the hose is a suction and pressure hose. The rigid PVC spiral in the wall prevents collapse under suction. Spec values vary per dimension — see the dimension table.

Is it ATEX-approved?

No. The PVC wall is insulating without conductive or antistatic properties.

Can I get it with couplings?

Yes. We cut the hose and fit Camlock, hose bands, threaded or flange couplings as a finished assembly.
