NORPLAST® PVC-C 389 CORRUFLEX®/AS

Antistatic suction and pressure hose with chlorinated PVC wall (PVC-C — better chemical and thermal resistance than standard PVC) and corrugated clamp profile outer cover. Resistance <10⁹ Ω per ISO 8031. Designed for chemical industry and general ATEX-relevant suction and pressure applications. The corrugated construction provides better flexibility than smooth exterior — important on installations where the hose must often be flexed or adjusted.

Why this hose?

NORPLAST® PVC-C 389 CORRUFLEX®/AS uses chlorinated PVC (PVC-C) — a PVC variant where chlorine atoms are added to give better chemical and thermal resistance than standard PVC. This expands the hose's application spectrum to more aggressive media.

The corrugated outer cover provides better flexibility than smooth exterior — the hose can be bent to smaller radius and follows moving structures more easily. The antistatic property (<10⁹ Ω per ISO 8031) makes the hose relevant in ATEX zones with explosion hazard.

Where it is used

In chemical industry the hose typically sits on vapour return installations at moderate temperatures where PVC-C's better resistance is needed.

On granulate handling in ATEX-relevant zones, the antistatic property combined with the corrugated construction's flexibility is a good combination.

In everyday talk we call it a "corruflex AS" — the corrugated antistatic PVC-C variant.

Fields without a value (—) are not specified in the manufacturer's factsheet. Overpressure and underpressure values are recommended operating limits; the product can be subjected to higher loads on request. Bend radius is measured along the inside of the hose bend.

Standards and compliance

NORPLAST® PVC-C 389 CORRUFLEX®/AS conforms to:

  • ISO 8031. Test standard for electrical resistance.
  • REACH and RoHS. EU directives for chemicals.

Industries that use it

NORPLAST® PVC-C 389 CORRUFLEX®/AS is used in chemical industry and ATEX-relevant applications:

In chemical industry and bulk handling the hose combines PVC-C's better chemical resistance with the antistatic property.

The corrugated construction makes it particularly suited for mobile installations where the hose often needs adjusting.

Custom lengths and assemblies

The hose is delivered on 50 m rolls. We cut to length and fit Camlock, clamp ring or flange couplings with correct grounding.

For ATEX facilities we can advise on coupling systems that maintain the antistatic function.

Frequently asked questions

What is PVC-C (chlorinated PVC)?

Chlorinated PVC is a variant of PVC where chlorine atoms are added after polymerisation. It provides better chemical resistance and slightly higher temperature resistance than standard PVC.

What's the difference between CORRUFLEX and standard NORPLAST?

CORRUFLEX has corrugated outer cover providing better flexibility during bending. Standard NORPLAST has smooth or slightly corrugated exterior.

Does the hose need to be grounded?

Yes. The antistatic property only works with correct grounding at both ends.

Is it ATEX-approved?

It's antistatic-marked but not formally ATEX-marked. For Zone 22 (occasional dust) the antistatic property is often sufficient after risk assessment.

How flexible is it during bending?

The corrugated construction provides smaller bend radius than smooth-exterior hoses in the same dimensions. Specific bend radius values are in the dimension table.

Does it tolerate food contact?

No. PVC-C is not food-grade certified. For food choose a food-grade variant.
