Why this hose?

BARDUC® PUR-INOX 382 FOOD-AS (XHD) sits above the AIRDUC family in bulk class. It is a combination of three top properties: 5 mm wall (thicker than the AIRDUC XHD variants at 1.8-2 mm), 5.5 bar working pressure (more than twice the AIRDUC FOOD level) and INOX spiral (stainless steel, hygiene grade).

The hose is food-approved per EU 10/2011 (category E — dry food), EC 1935/2004 and FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 — together with GMP EC 2023/2006 manufacturing. It is antistatic (<109 Ω) and ATEX-approved for Zone 0/1/2 (gas) and Zone 20/21/22 (dust). That gives a bulk hose that does not concede anything on food approval compared to standard variants.

In practice this product is the technically correct answer to a specific combination: silo-truck loading of bulk foodstuffs in ATEX-classified environments, where the process requires high working pressure, INOX spiral, full food approval and antistatic level all at once. If any one of these four requirements is not critical, a lighter construction may be more practical.

BARDUC vs AIRDUC

BARDUC is the thick-walled bulk line with an extra-heavy and heavier spiral, designed for high throughput -- silo trucks, large dosing systems, long runs. AIRDUC is the standard pneumatic conveying hose with lighter construction. It is heavier and less flexible but lasts longer under high-velocity conveying of abrasive media.

Where it is used

The hose is used in silo trucks, terminal loading and central pneumatic transport lines where the medium is bulk food and the process requires an INOX construction. It is the specific class of applications where the combination of 5.5 bar working pressure and INOX spiral is necessary.

In pharma and dairy, it sits on the heaviest powder transfer installations. In animal-feed, grain and forage industries, it features in central silo transfer systems. In the chemical industry, it is used where the medium is food-contact-related but requires bulk handling.

It covers dimensions 32-60 mm in the factsheet range, with working pressure 5-5.5 bar and 1 bar vacuum. Standard roll length is 10-20 m depending on dimension. It can be cut to length.

The formal product name is BARDUC® PUR-INOX 382 FOOD-AS (XHD). In daily conversation we refer to it as a bulk food hose or silo truck hose.

Note: Fields without a value (—) are not specified in the manufacturer's data sheet. Overpressure and underpressure are recommended operating limits; products can be subjected to higher loads on request. The bend radius is measured along the inside of the hose bend. Standards and compliance

The hose is tested and documented in compliance with the following standards:

  • EU 10/2011. EU regulation on plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food. The hose is tested in Category E (dry food at up to 70 °C).
  • EU 1935/2004. EU framework regulation for materials and articles intended to come into contact with food. The hose meets the general safety and traceability requirements.
  • FDA 21 CFR 177.2600. US Food and Drug Administration specification for polyurethanes in food contact.
  • GMP EC 2023/2006. EU regulation on good manufacturing practice for food contact materials -- applies across the production chain.
  • ATEX 2014/34/EU and TRGS 727. The hose's antistatic wall meets the requirements for conveying combustible food dust in ATEX zones.
  • REACH (EC 1907/2006). EU regulation on the registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemicals. The hose materials comply with REACH; a manufacturer declaration is available for download.
  • RoHS (Directive 2011/65/EU). Restriction of Hazardous Substances -- restriction on the use of certain hazardous substances in products. The hose components comply with the RoHS limit values.

Industries that use it

The hose is used in bulk food industry and adjacent sectors where food approval, antistatic dissipation and abrasion resistance are combined.

In the food industry, BARDUC 382 sits on silo trucks and bulk transfer installations for flour, sugar, grain and granular ingredients. The 5 mm wall and INOX spiral are specifically designed for high throughput in the 32-60 mm dimension range — typical flow rates at silo emptying and terminal loading.

In the pharmaceutical industry, it sits on tablet presses and powder transfer systems where an INOX spiral is a hygiene requirement. In dairies and dairy industry, it is used for milk powder and whey fractions; the INOX spiral is not optional, it is a real hygiene requirement.

In agriculture and animal-feed industries, it is used for feed and grain transfer on central installations. The specific positioning is the BARDUC bulk class: higher working pressure (5.5 bar at Ø 32 mm) than the AIRDUC family, and a 5 mm wall thickness that is thicker than even the XHD variants in the AIRDUC series (2 mm). It is the technically correct solution where a process simultaneously requires full food-approved INOX construction and tolerates high working pressures in bulk transfer.

Custom lengths and assemblies

BARDUC® PUR-INOX 382 FOOD-AS (XHD) can be cut to length and assembled with cuffs, ferrules and threads to fit your installation precisely. We supply finished hose assemblies with crimped ferrules, clamping cuffs or threaded connections depending on what the process requires.

For ATEX installations it is particularly important that couplings and assemblies preserve the hose's electrical continuity. The whole system has to dissipate static electricity to ground -- not the hose alone.

Frequently asked questions

Is the hose approved for direct food contact?

Yes. The hose is approved per EU 10/2011 (plastics in contact with food), EU 1935/2004 (framework regulation) and FDA 21 CFR 177.2600. This means the materials are tested and documented for direct contact with food under specified conditions.

What does GMP EC 2023/2006 mean?

EC 2023/2006 is the EU regulation on good manufacturing practice (GMP) for materials intended for food contact. The hose is produced under a quality system that meets the requirements -- from raw materials to finished product.

Is the hose ATEX approved?

Yes. The hose complies with ATEX 2014/34/EU and TRGS 727 for the zones specified by the ATEX marking. This is particularly relevant when conveying flour, sugar and other combustible food dust where ignition risk has to be controlled.

Can the hose be cleaned in place (CIP/SIP)?

It depends on the temperature and the cleaning agent. The hose tolerates temperatures within its normal range -- if the CIP cycle runs above this, a high-temperature hose may be a better fit. The chemical resistance table shows material tolerance against cleaning agents.

Can I have the hose cut to length?

Yes. BARDUC® PUR-INOX 382 FOOD-AS (XHD) is cut to your length and we fit food-grade couplings and assemblies so the installation meets hygiene requirements.

What is the lead time?

Standard variants are typically in stock with a few days' lead time. Special variants depend on the manufacturer's production -- we give you a precise date when you contact us.
