Why this hose?

CP HiTex® 483 is developed for installations where the other variants reach their limit. With continuous operation up to +900 °C — almost double 487's +450 °C — 483 is the only hose in the family that can be deployed in direct contact with melt off-gas, furnace exhaust and glass-forming processes without deforming over time.

The construction is multi-layered: an inner high-temperature fabric handles the thermal exposure, while the external stainless steel (INOX) clamp profile provides mechanical stability and abrasion resistance. INOX is chosen over galvanised steel because the galvanised coating evaporates at temperatures above +400 °C — INOX tolerates the entire operating range.

The hose is spark-resistant and can withstand direct contact with molten metals and glowing particles for shorter periods. Like the rest of the family it is vacuum-oriented and not a pressure hose. Thermal expansion is significant — several centimetres per metre when operating from room temperature to +900 °C — and must be actively accounted for via expansion compensators in the installation.

Thermal insulation

The multi-layered construction provides significantly lower surface temperature than a single-layered glass fabric. This is a passive protection that reduces the risk of contact burns and thermal radiation to surrounding equipment. At very high temperatures over longer periods, safe distance to personnel is still recommended.

Where it is used

The hose is used where temperature exceeds 700 °C or where thermal insulation is required. The classical use is smelting plants and refractory industry where high-temperature exhaust and flue gas need to be moved away from kilns.

In automotive development centres for engine exhaust at full load on test benches. In paper industry for high-temperature drying processes where the air is above 500 °C. In welding industry for hot work on large pieces where hot particles and sparks are present.

Important: The hose is specified for gas -- not liquid or dust. For high-temperature dust (e.g. fly ash), a different construction must be chosen. We advise on alternatives if your medium is not pure gas.

The formal name is CP HiTex® 483. In daily use, many simply call it "the top model", "the extreme high-temperature hose" or — in furnace installations — "the 1100-degree hose". All three work.

When is 483 necessary?

When continuous operating temperature exceeds +450 °C (487's limit), or when peak periodically goes above +700 °C (481's limit). Below those levels, 480/485/486/487 are typically cheaper and sufficient. 483 is the expensive top model — chosen when the process genuinely requires it.

Note: Fields without a value (—) are not specified in the manufacturer's data sheet. Overpressure and underpressure are recommended operating limits; products can be subjected to higher loads on request. The bend radius is measured along the inside of the hose bend. Standards and compliance

The hose is tested and documented in compliance with the following standards:

  • Extra-high-temperature construction. The hose is specified for peak 1100 °C short-term and continuous operation up to 900 °C. Material selection and lamination technique ensure resistance to thermal shock and hot particles.
  • Thermal insulation via multi-layered fabric. The construction reduces surface temperature compared with single-layered glass fabric -- a passive safety property that protects the surroundings.
  • INOX clamp profile. The external stainless steel clamp profile provides spark resistance and structural stability at high temperatures. The INOX version is more durable than galvanised steel in high-temperature environments.
  • Penetration protection for the CP series. The manufacturer documents the protection degree against ingress of sparks, small particles and moisture.
  • REACH (EC 1907/2006). EU regulation on the registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemicals. The hose materials comply with REACH; a manufacturer declaration is available for download.
  • RoHS (Directive 2011/65/EU). Restriction of Hazardous Substances -- restriction on the use of certain hazardous substances in products. The hose components comply with the RoHS limit values.

The hose is not ATEX approved and is specified for pure gas transport (not liquid or dust).

Industries that use it

The hose is used where extreme temperatures and thermal insulation are required.

In glass industry, ceramic industry and refractory industry 483 is the standard choice where off-gas lines from glass furnaces, firing tunnels and melting installations continuously operate above +500 °C. The multi-layer construction and INOX clamp profile are a specific response to the continuous thermal loads that 480/485/487 are not specified to withstand over time.

In automotive and vehicle construction it sees use in specialised test benches for high-temperature engines and turbo systems where exhaust gas periodically exceeds +700 °C. In welding industries it sits in specialised hot-work installations with direct spark contact for longer periods.

In paper industry and drying installations it is the right hose at drying processes with direct hot air above +500 °C. Across industries the common thread is that peak temperature is not just a short-term load — it is part of operation. That is the core criterion for choosing 483 over the cheaper lower-temperature variants.

Custom lengths and assemblies

CP HiTex 483 can be cut to length and assembled with cuffs, ferrules and threads to fit your installation precisely. We supply finished hose assemblies with crimped ferrules, clamping cuffs or threaded connections depending on what the process requires.

We advise on which combination of hose and assembly gives the longest service life in the specific application. It can have a real impact on how often the hose needs to be replaced and how stable the system runs over time.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between normal range and short-term peak?

The normal range is the temperature at which the hose can operate continuously. The short-term peak is a spike temperature the material can withstand for a limited time. CP HiTex 483 has a peak of 1100 degrees, but it must not run constantly at that temperature. Consult the manufacturer's specification for duration.

Is the hose spark-resistant?

Yes. The CP HiTex series has an external clamp profile that protects against sparks and hot particles -- one of the reasons it is used for welding fume extraction and engine exhaust extraction.

Which bend radius should I dimension for?

Bend radius is measured along the inside of the hose. If the bend becomes too sharp, the clamp profile is squeezed together and the hose can be damaged. The table shows recommended minimum bend radii per dimension. When in doubt, choose a slightly larger radius.

Can I have the hose cut to length?

Yes. CP HiTex 483 is cut to your length, and we advise on couplings that withstand the same temperatures as the hose itself.

What is the lead time?

Standard variants are typically in stock with a few days' lead time. Special variants depend on the manufacturer's production -- we give you a precise date when you contact us.
