SS-20 DT (PRS-HEC)

Pneumatic PRS vacuum with integrated high-efficiency cyclone for continuous recovery and reuse of metal powder from powder bed fusion printers. Third-party certified for Zone 21 and Zone 22 — Zone 21 internally inside the recovery tank (ATEX II 2GD, IECEx). HEPA H14. Stainless steel SAE 304.

  • No electric motor — continuous duty, no duty cycle limitation
  • Integrated HEC cyclone — separates up to 98 % of the powder
  • Zone 21 internally inside the recovery tank (LCIE 03 ATEX 6310 X)
  • Dual certified: ATEX and IECEx (IECEx LCIE 17.0076 X)
  • High vacuum pressure (4,570 mmH²O) — ideal for long hose runs
  • Detachable SS 304 recovery tank — 25 L

Continuous duty without compromise

The SS-20 DT (PRS-HEC) is Tiger-Vac's pneumatic powder recovery system for additive manufacturing. Driven entirely by compressed air through the venturi principle, there is no electric motor — and therefore no thermal load, no duty cycle limitation, and no risk of motor failure during extended operation. This makes the SS-20 the natural choice when the production process demands uninterrupted running.

The integrated high-efficiency cyclone (HEC) separates up to 98 % of the metal powder into the detachable stainless steel SAE 304 recovery tank, while a HEPA H14 filter acts as a secondary safety barrier. The high vacuum pressure of 4,570 mmH²O makes the unit particularly well suited to long hose runs between printer and vacuum.

The SS-20 is third-party certified by LCIE for Zone 21 and Zone 22 externally, and Zone 21 internally inside the recovery tank, under both ATEX (LCIE 03 ATEX 6310 X) and IECEx (IECEx LCIE 17.0076 X) for conductive dusts.

Frequently asked questions

The decisive difference is the duty cycle. An electric motor heats up and must rest periodically — typically 50–70 %. The SS-20 is driven by compressed air and has no moving electrical parts, meaning unlimited runtime without cooling breaks. Ideal for processes that run continuously across full shifts.
Zone 21 covers locations where explosive dust atmospheres may occur periodically. Inside a recovery tank filling with fine, conductive metal powder — aluminium, titanium, copper — that is precisely the situation during filling and emptying. The Zone 21 internal attestation ensures the tank construction and materials are approved for this risk level.
ATEX is the European directive (2014/34/EU), mandatory in the EU and EEA. IECEx is an international certification scheme recognised in over 50 countries globally. The SS-20 is dual certified, making it directly applicable in both European facilities and international production sites.
The SS-20 requires a compressor of at least 15 HP (approx. 11 kW) delivering 21.2 L/s at 5.5 bar via a 1/2” (12.7 mm) air supply line. A 15 m air supply hose is included.
The venturi principle generates vacuum by accelerating compressed air through a small nozzle, producing significantly higher vacuum pressure than electric motors of equivalent size. The SS-20 achieves 4,570 mmH²O vs 1,550–2,500 mmH²O for comparable electric PRS models. Particularly valuable for long hose runs.
Yes. The HEC cyclone separates 98 % of the powder from the airstream before the filter, so the powder arrives in the recovery tank clean and uncontaminated. It can be sieved and returned to the print process. The optional extra tank (Part# 223001-ASM1) allows tank swapping during continued operation.
