A reliable all-round vacuum for hazardous areas

The C-10 EX is a compact and robust industrial vacuum cleaner designed for the dry recovery of combustible dust in explosive atmospheres. It is third-party certified by the French notified body LCIE to category 1/3D — meaning the unit is approved for external use in Zone 22, while the collection tank interior is certified for Zone 20, the most demanding dust zone classification. With an airflow of 194 m³/h, a vacuum pressure of 2,504 mmH₂O and a filter surface area exceeding 20,000 cm², it delivers industrial-grade performance in a genuinely manageable package. At 24 kg and measuring 43 × 43 × 93 cm, it moves easily on four wheels and follows the operator without effort — even in confined spaces. The C-10 EX is available in a standard version and with three options: EN 17348 version, AISI 304 stainless steel tank and brushless motor (BLSD).

ATEX certification in two layers

The C-10 EX is certified under ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU with the marking II 1/3D. The outer layer — category 3D — covers the machine's external enclosure and electrical installation for use in Zone 22. The inner layer — category 1D (Da) — covers the interior of the collection tank and qualifies it to handle combustible dust under Zone 20 conditions inside the tank itself. Both layers are third-party certified by LCIE (Notified Body 0081) in France, and the product also carries IECEx certification (IECEx LCIE 15.0048), which provides international recognition beyond the EU. The temperature limit is T200°C for the standard model and T85°C for the BLSD variant.

Filtration system and recovery

The vacuum cleaner uses a three-stage filtration system consisting of a conductive disposable filter bag (19 L), a main cloth filter with cage and a HEPA/ULPA filter with a surface area of 20,253 cm². The cloth filter with cage acts as a pre-filter, protecting the absolute filter from premature clogging. The included conductive accessory kit in static-dissipative material ensures that charges are safely conducted away throughout the entire recovery path — from suction tools to tank. As optional upgrades, the vacuum can be fitted with a high-temperature main filter for applications with warm process exhaust, as well as Poly Liner recovery bags and accessories for easier emptying.

Questions and answers

The marking II 1/3D indicates that the vacuum cleaner belongs to Equipment Group II (above-ground industry) and is designed in two levels: Category 3D for the machine's exterior — approved for Zone 22 — and category 1D (Da) for the interior of the collection tank, which is approved for Zone 20. The letter D indicates that the certification relates to combustible dust.
Zone 20 refers to a location where an explosive dust cloud is present continuously, frequently or for long periods — typically inside containers, tanks and pipework. Zone 22 refers to a location where an explosive dust cloud is unlikely to occur in normal operation, and if it does, will only persist for a short time. The C-10 EX addresses both: the tank meets Zone 20 requirements from the inside, while the machine as a whole is approved for placement in Zone 22 on the outside.
LCIE (Laboratoire Central des Industries Électriques) is a French notified body (NB 0081) accredited under ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU. When LCIE issues a certificate, it is an independent third-party confirmation that the product meets the essential health and safety requirements of the directive. The C-10 EX carries certificate numbers LCIE 15 ATEX 3061 (EU) and IECEx LCIE 15.0048 (international).
The BLSD (brushless) motor is the right choice when the machine runs for many hours daily or near-continuously. Brushless motors have fewer wearing parts and a longer service life than conventional bypass motors. The BLSD variant delivers a higher airflow (216 m³/h), but at a slightly lower vacuum pressure (2,250 mmH₂O) and a reduced temperature class (T85°C). Note that the BLSD variant draws 8 A compared to 5 A for the standard model.
The AISI 304 variant features a stainless steel collection tank and is the right choice when cleaning agents, process liquids or the surrounding environment pose a risk of corrosion to a standard steel tank. The variant weighs 27 kg — three kilograms more than the standard model — but is otherwise identical in specifications and certification.
EN 17348:2022 is the harmonised European standard for vacuum cleaners intended for use in explosive atmospheres. The EN 17348 version of the C-10 EX is manufactured and documented in accordance with this standard and is suited to applications where full standard compliance is a requirement — for example in connection with regulatory approval, quality assurance or contractual obligations.
No. The C-10 EX is designed exclusively for dry recovery and must not be used for liquids. If you require wet recovery in ATEX environments, other models in the Tiger-Vac range are certified for this purpose.
