Explosion-proof pharmaceutical vacuum (ATEX II 1/2GD) with ULPA U15 exhaust filter and conductive collection filter bag. Enclosed explosion-proof motor for continuous duty. 50 litre stainless steel Type 304 recovery tank. Designed for tablet recovery and process cleaning in pharmaceutical production – rated for Gas Zone 1 and Dust Zone 21. Sound level only 68 dB(A) with integrated muffler.
The CD-230V EX (CFB) PHARMA is engineered specifically for pharmaceutical environments where explosion-proofing, material handling integrity, and advanced filtration must converge in a single solution. Certified to ATEX II 1/2GD (LCIE 03 ATEX 6295 X), it operates safely in both Zone 0 and Zone 20 (high-risk internal) as well as Zone 1/21 (normal process external). This makes it ideal for tablet manufacturing, dust recovery operations, and cleaning procedures where worker exposure must be minimized to the absolute limit.
The cornerstone of the design is the conductive collection filter bag (CFB) system. Unlike traditional vacuums where recovered material mixes directly with the exhaust filter, the CFB keeps powder continuously sealed in a conductive bag at the tank base. At change-out, the entire bag is removed as a single unit with zero dust release to the room. This design dramatically reduces worker inhalation exposure and ensures complete control over waste streams–a critical requirement in potent compound handling.
The ULPA U15 filtration (99.999% at 0.12 µm and 99.9995% at 0.18 µm MPPS) represents the highest filter class for dry recovery. It is not merely a practical choice; it is necessary when working with high-potency APIs with exposure limits below 1 µg/m³. The filter is leak-tested per EN 1822 and certified to release no more than 0.005% of particles during qualification.
Powered by a 1.5 kW TEFC motor (single phase, 230 V, 50 Hz), the vacuum delivers 212 m³/h air flow with a maximum vacuum of 2,540 mmH₂O. The motor is fully enclosed and explosion-proofed–no external moving parts or heat sources that could ignite gas or vapour. An integrated acoustic system reduces noise to just 68 dB(A), making the vacuum acceptable for all-day operation adjacent to manufacturing. The entire structure–tank, motor mount, wheel base–is stainless steel Type 304 with electrostatic resistivity below 10 ohm, eliminating any risk of static ignition.

ATEX II 1/2GD indicates certification for both gas and dust atmospheres. The “II” refers to electromagnetic emission–this is not a new ATEX application but a gas group where IIA is lowest energy and IIC is highest (hydrogen environment). The “1” means the vacuum is approved for Zone 1 (where gas can occur during normal operation). “2GD” means Zone 2 (gas) and Zone 21/22 (dust). CD-230V EX (CFB) PHARMA carries II 1/2GD, meaning it meets requirements for both Zone 1 and Zone 21–a higher rating than II 2GD, which permits only Zone 2 and Zone 22.
HEPA H14 captures 99.995% of particles at MPPS (Most Penetrating Particle Size). ULPA U15 captures 99.999%–a 4x further reduction. When handling high-potency compounds with exposure limits below 1 µg/m³, even small percentage gains are critical. ULPA U15 filtration provides the extra safety margin required by top-tier pharmaceutical standards and reduces carcinogenic or teratogenic exposure to the absolute minimum.
CFB stands for Conductive Filter Bag–a sealed conductive pouch that holds all recovered material from intake until change-out. In traditional vacuums, operators must handle filters or bags when they are full, exposing them to dust. With CFB, the bag is mounted at the tank base, and when change-out is needed, the entire bag is removed as one sealed unit without dust release to the room. This drastically cuts inhalation exposure and eliminates cross-contamination risk between batches.
Yes. The vacuum is designed for dual duty. In production zones it can recover waste dust from tablet presses or capsule fillers. The same machine can then be used for equipment cleaning–for example, dust-off operations on API residue from surfaces–without changing tools. The ATEX rating ensures it can be co-located with production without additional ventilation or segregation.
68 dB(A) is extraordinarily low for a 1.5 kW explosion-proof vacuum. It is achieved through an integrated acoustic muffler that routes exhaust air through sound-absorbing material before release. In practical terms, an operator can work all day without hearing protection–exposures below 80 dB(A) are not occupational health hazards under EU regulation. This makes the vacuum attractive in pharma environments where continuous use is expected.
All metal components–tank, motor bracket, wheels, hoses–are stainless steel Type 304 and connected with conductive fasteners. Electrostatic resistivity below 10 ohm means static charge drains continuously to ground without building up. In explosive atmospheres (Zone 1 or Zone 21), even small static discharges can ignite gas or dust. A vacuum with resistivity below 10 ohm can never be the ignition source.
