About CD-230V EX MRPFT HEPA
The CD-230V EX MRPFT HEPA is an explosion proof industrial vacuum designed for safe recovery of combustible dust and flammable gases in hazardous environments. Certified ATEX II 1/2GD under LCIE 03 ATEX 6295 X, it can be deployed in both gas and dust zones. Externally rated for Gas Zone 1 (Group IIB) and Dust Zone 21, with internal protection for Zone 0/20 (Ex h IIC T6 Ga / Ex h IIIC T50°C Da), it offers flexibility for process integration in chemical plants, paint and coatings facilities, powder handling, and other industries where explosive atmospheres are a concern.
The filter tube purge system (MRPFT – Manual Reverse Purge with Filter Tubes) is a critical safety feature: instead of requiring manual filter or bag change, the operator simply activates a reverse air purge that cleans the PTFE-laminated polyester filter tubes internally. This method ensures the unit is never opened during operation and collected material remains sealed until disposal is complete. This is essential for ATEX safety as it eliminates the risk of static electricity buildup and accidental ignition during maintenance – the most vulnerable moment in any dust collection system.
The recovery tank is constructed from Type 304 stainless steel and has a 50-litre capacity. Mounted on a carriage base with four wheels, it is easy to move between work areas and can be integrated into process lines and ducted systems. The 10-metre power cord offers extended reach. Powered by a 1.5 kW TEFC (Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled) explosion proof motor at 230 V single phase, it can run continuously without risk of overheating, making it ideal for high-capacity industrial cleaning and process-integrated dust collection.
The HEPA H14 exhaust filter (99.995% at 0.3 µm) ensures air discharged back to the work area is extremely clean. Maximum vacuum of 2,540 mmH₂O allows the unit to integrate with process equipment and closed-loop transfer systems without additional vacuum pumps. Resistivity below 10 ohms provides static dissipation throughout the system, further reducing ignition risk.

Frequently Asked Questions
ATEX II 1/2GD means the unit is certified to the highest explosion protection on the gas side (Category 1 – external Zone 0, internal Zone 20) and dust side (Category 2 – external Zone 21). All four combinations are covered: internal Zone 0/20 (most stringent) and external Zone 1/21. This means the vacuum can be used even in the most hazardous flammable atmospheres where both gas and combustible dust are present simultaneously.
MRPFT stands for Manual Reverse Purge with Filter Tubes. Instead of opening the unit and manually changing dust bags, the operator activates a reverse compressed air pulse that cleans the internal filter tubes. This means the filter chamber is never opened and collected dust remains sealed throughout operation. This is essential for ATEX compliance because it eliminates the single most dangerous moment in dust collection: the bag change. There is no exposure of combustible dust to ignition sources, and no opportunity for static electricity to build up during maintenance.
Yes. ATEX II 1/2GD certification means the vacuum is rated for both gas and dust atmospheres simultaneously. It can therefore be used in facilities where both flammable gas risk (such as solvent vapour in paint booths) and combustible dust risk (such as powder handling or grain facilities) exist in the same work area. If your environment contains only dust with no gas risk, the unit is still fully compliant and simply provides extra safety margin.
Zone 1 (gas) is a work area where flammable gas atmospheres occur during normal operation or briefly during normal activities – for example, around solvent vents in a paint booth. Zone 21 (dust) is where combustible dust clouds can occur during normal operation. The CD-230V EX MRPFT HEPA is classified for both Gas Zone 1 and Dust Zone 21 externally, making it well-suited to process integration on factory floors where both vapour lines and powder handling happen in the same space.
Continuous duty means the motor can run all day (e.g. 8+ hours) without overheating. The TEFC (Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled) motor is designed so that drawn air cannot enter the motor's electrical compartments. In ATEX terms, this means explosive atmospheres can never form inside the motor itself. Without TEFC protection, a standard motor running extended hours could reach temperatures that ignite dust or gas if they leaked into the motor housing – a catastrophic failure mode in hazardous areas.
The CD series is designed for large-scale process collection via ducting and integration with factory equipment. The CFB series is more compact and mobile, suited to spot cleaning and portable use. The CD-230V features a larger 50-litre tank and higher continuous vacuum (1,780 mmH₂O vs. lower in CFB models). The MRPFT tube purge system allows filter cleaning without opening the unit – a safety feature CFB models do not have. If you need high capacity, process integration, and sealed filter maintenance, the CD-230V is the right choice.
