About EXP1-20L (DT) RE HEPA (MFS)
The EXP1-20L (DT) RE HEPA (MFS) is Tiger-Vac’s largest model in the EXP1 series — an uncompromising explosion-proof vacuum engineered for pharmaceutical and industrial production where high throughput and safe handling of flammable gases and combustible dust are non-negotiable. Since 1998, the EXP1 series has defined the standard for ATEX compliance by combining technical robustness with operational flexibility.
Construction is solid stainless steel 304 except for the cart (stainless steel cart available as an option). The 25-litre detachable recovery tank makes it straightforward to change or empty without dismantling the main unit. A sealed explosion-proof TEFC motor rated 1 kW (230 V, single-phase) delivers 224 m³/h air throughput with maximum vacuum at 1.550 mmH₂O. The manual filter shaker (MFS) means straightforward maintenance — you simply shake the filter to discharge particles between cycles, with no need for additional energy.
EXP1-20L achieves ATEX II 2GD certification under LCIE 03 ATEX 6297. Externally it is approved for Zone 1 (gas, group IIA) and Zone 21 (dust). Internally it meets EN 17348 DT, confirming safe recovery of combustible dust in Zone 20 environments (for example, the filter housing). Everything in the system is antistatic protected below 10 ohms — from the suction hose to the wheels. The HEPA H14 filter comes standard with 99.995% efficiency. ULPA filters and conductive polyliner bags are optional upgrades.
The vacuum is ISO Class 4 compatible for controlled manufacturing environments and carries no exclusions for pharmaceutical use. The 15-metre power cord and optional 4-wheel cart make it practical to move between work areas. It includes as standard a tool kit, main cloth filter, pre-filter, and static-dissipative tools (SD).

Questions and Answers
ATEX II 2GD certifies that the vacuum is built to the ATEX Directive (2014/34/EU) for equipment used in explosive atmospheres. II means it is for industrial use (not mining). 2 means it falls into Category 2, approved for Zone 1/Zone 21 and also covers Zone 2/Zone 22. G means it is approved for gas mixtures; D means it is approved for dust mixtures. In short: this machine can safely operate in environments with both flammable gases and combustible dust.
MFS stands for Manual Filter Shaker. Instead of using a pneumatic or electric mechanism to clean the filter, the operator simply shakes the filter by hand. It saves energy because no additional equipment is needed, and it makes maintenance straightforward — you can discharge particles between work sessions without waiting. For many pharmaceutical processes where frequent product changeovers are normal, MFS is an elegant solution.
It is a Tiger-Vac convention. The model is called EXP1-20L because it sits between smaller and larger sizes, but the actual tank geometry accommodates 25 litres. The correct operating volume is 25 litres — the model name refers to a historical sizing category.
Yes. The EXP1-20L meets ISO Class 4 standards (ISO 14644-1) for cleanroom compatibility. This means its design and operational profile do not contaminate or compromise cleanroom classification. It is therefore suitable for pharmaceutical manufacturing, medical device assembly and other high purity environments.
Below 10 ohms means there is a continuous conductive path from every point in the vacuum to ground. This prevents static electricity from building up on the filter, tank or suction hose — a critical requirement for safe operation in ATEX environments. If static charge accumulates, a spark could ignite vapour or dust clouds. Tiger-Vac’s antistatic design — featuring conductive cloth filters, SD pre-filters, conductive polyliner bags and ESD-safe wheels — ensures this risk is minimized to nearly zero.
ULPA (Ultra Low Penetration Air) H15/U15 achieves 99.9995% filtration efficiency at 0.3 micrometre particles, compared to HEPA’s 99.995%. That is 100 times better. ULPA is standard in some pharmaceutical and medical device facilities where even ultra-fine particles must be removed. As an optional upgrade, you can fit ULPA H15 or U15 to the EXP1-20L without changing the main unit.
EN 17348 is the harmonized European standard for vacuums used in explosive atmospheres. DT stands for "Combustible Dust". EN 17348 certification confirms that the vacuum meets strict requirements for design, motor, filtration efficiency, exhaust temperature and antistatic protection specifically for dust applications. The EXP1-20L meets EN 17348 DT, which means safe recovery of combustible dust.
