About the EXP1-35L (DT) RE HEPA (MFS)

The EXP1-35L (DT) RE HEPA (MFS) is Tiger-Vac’s largest model in the EXP1 ATEX series. With a recovery tank of 35 litres, it delivers significantly more capacity than the compact 20-litre version (EXP1-20L), while maintaining the same proven performance and ATEX certification. The extra volume makes it ideal for extended operations in production environments where frequent tank changes would disrupt workflow and reduce productivity.

The vacuum is ATEX II 2GD-certified under LCIE 03 ATEX 6297 and designed for use in both gas and dust zones. Externally, it is approved for Zone 1 gas (IIA group, low-energy gases such as propane) and Zone 21 dust, thereby also covering lower zones: Zone 2 gas and Zone 22 dust. Internally, it meets EN 17348 DT for combustible dust (Zone 20). Fully stainless steel construction (SS 304) ensures superior durability in chemical and pharmaceutical environments.

The manual filter shaker (MFS) allows operators and maintenance personnel to clean the filter on the fly without interrupting work. The system includes HEPA H14 as standard and offers ULPA U15 as an upgrade for highly critical applications. Antistatic protection below 10 ohms throughout ensures safe handling of electrostatic-sensitive materials.

ISO Class 4-compatible (ISO 14644-1), meaning the vacuum can be positioned directly in cleanroom environments without compromising classification. Equipped with a handle and mounted on a DT cart (dynamic transport), it can be moved easily within the facility.

Questions & Answers

Both models share the same motor, air flow (224 m³/h), vacuum (1.550 mmH₂O), and ATEX II 2GD certification. The main difference is recovery tank capacity: EXP1-35L has 35 litres compared to EXP1-20L’s 20 litres. This means EXP1-35L can run significantly longer between tank changes, reducing downtime and boosting productivity on long production days in high-throughput facilities.

ATEX II 2GD means Category II (normal operating conditions), combined gas and dust protection (2G = gas, D = dust). Externally, the vacuum is approved for Gas Zone 1 (IIA group, low-energy gases such as propane) and Dust Zone 21. This also covers lower zones: Gas Zone 2 and Dust Zone 22. Internally, it meets EN 17348 DT for combustible dust (Zone 20), meaning full protection both outside and inside the machine.

Manual filter shaker (MFS) is a battery-operated mechanical system that vibrates the filter to dislodge accumulated dust and restore airflow without stopping operation. The operator activates it with a button—a quick action taking only seconds. It significantly extends filter life and reduces maintenance burden compared to models without on-the-fly cleaning capability.

Less than 10 ohm means the vacuum has excellent electrical conductivity throughout—tank, filter, hoses, and tools. This ensures that electrostatic charge is quickly dissipated to ground, preventing spark formation and ignition when working with flammable dust and vapours. It is essential safety in ATEX areas.

ISO Class 4-compatibility means the vacuum can be positioned in or directly at the work area without compromising the cleanroom classification (ISO 14644-1). The HEPA H14 filter ensures all exhaust air is extremely clean. Full stainless steel and antistatic design means no corrosion or electrostatic interference. A typical application is cleaning after potent API synthesis or chemical operations in high-end pharmaceutical cleanrooms.

HEPA H14 (99.995% at 0.3 µm) is excellent for most pharmaceutical and industrial applications. ULPA U15 (99.999% at 0.12 µm, 99.9995% at 0.18 µm MPPS) is the next step for extremely potent compounds with very low exposure limits or where maximum particle retention is mandated by strict facility protocols. Consult your safety SOP or notified body if in doubt.

Yes. A vacuum certified for Zone 1/21 can of course be used in Zone 2/22 or entirely without ATEX requirements. Certification ensures the highest safety level—if you operate in a lower-risk zone, you are fully covered. Many companies choose ATEX equipment for future-proofing, even if they currently do not work in a classified gas or combustible-dust environment.
