What is the Tiger-Vac CR-1000 (CV)?

The CR-1000 (CV) — where CV stands for Containment Vacuum — is a cleanroom vacuum from Tiger-Vac engineered specifically for the safe handling of potent and carcinogenic compounds. The vacuum is approved for ISO Class 4 (ISO 14644-1) and designed for OEB 4–5 environments where operator exposure limits are typically below 1 µg/m³.

The defining feature of the CR-1000 (CV) is the integrated safe containment canister: a leak-proof, coated steel container with a 7.6-litre capacity. Inside the canister sits a disposable collection bag, and the canister is equipped with its own integrated HEPA filter — so when the canister is disconnected from the vacuum, all collected material remains sealed inside. The canister is disposed of as a closed unit. The operator never handles the collected substance directly.

The 5-stage filtration system passes air successively through the disposable bag (inside the canister), a PTFE laminated washable cloth filter, a safety filter, a HEPA H14 filter and finally a ULPA U15 exhaust filter with an efficiency of 99.999 % at 0.12 µm. Each system leaves Tiger-Vac's facility individually aerosol leak tested in accordance with IEST-RP-CC001.

Important use restriction: The CR-1000 (CV) is designed exclusively for dry recovery of powders and particles. It must not be used for liquids, slurries or wet material, as the motor is not protected against moisture.

Questions and answers

The decisive difference is the containment system. A standard ULPA cleanroom vacuum like the CR-1 ULPA filters exhaust air extremely effectively, but when the bag needs changing, the operator is in contact with the collected substance. The CR-1000 (CV) is designed so that this never happens: all collected material remains sealed inside the containment canister, which is disposed of as a closed unit. This is essential when working with OEB 4–5 substances with exposure limits below 1 µg/m³.
The canister is a leak-proof, coated steel container mounted on the underside of the CR-1000 (CV). Inside sits a disposable bag that collects the recovered powder. The canister has its own integrated HEPA filter, so when disconnected from the vacuum the system seals itself. The container is disposed of with all contents intact. The operator never handles the collected material directly.
Both HEPA and ULPA are defined in EN 1822 and tested using the MPPS method. HEPA H14 retains at least 99.995 % of particles at MPPS. ULPA U15 goes significantly further: 99.999 % at 0.12 µm and 99.9995 % at 0.18 µm. For potent compounds with very low exposure limits, ULPA U15 is the correct choice.
Yes. The product is designed for exactly that combination. It is ISO Class 4 compatible (ISO 14644-1), meeting the requirements for the most stringently classified production zones. The containment system makes it suitable for OEB 4–5 work with potent and carcinogenic compounds. In many pharmaceutical production environments, highly potent APIs are handled in cleanrooms — it is precisely this combination that the CR-1000 (CV) is built for.
The filter chamber and wheel base are both manufactured from stainless steel Type 316 and can be autoclaved up to 121 °C. Motor head and electrical components are not autoclavable. Accessories kit #3 (part no. 323604) includes an EPDM hose and stainless steel tools that also withstand autoclaving.
Three optional kits for Ø32 mm (1.25″): Kit #1 is standard plastic tools for general use (part no. 323600). Kit #2 is ESD safe with conductive plastic tools and stainless steel wands (part no. 323602). Kit #3 is the autoclavable kit with EPDM hose, stainless steel wands and a food-grade silicone conical nozzle (part no. 323604). Choose kit #3 if your SOPs require all accessories to be sterilised between uses.
