What is the Tiger-Vac CR-1200D?

The CR-1200D is Tiger-Vac's robust pharma cleanroom dry vacuum built entirely in stainless steel. Both the motor top and the recovery tank are manufactured in AISI 316 stainless steel with an electropolished finish — a surface treatment that eliminates microscopic crevices and irregularities where contamination could accumulate. The CR-1200D is designed specifically for the pharmaceutical, semiconductor and microelectronics industries and is compatible with ISO Class 4 (formerly US Fed. Std. 209E Class 10) as defined in ISO 14644-1.

What sets the CR-1200D apart from most competitors is its dual filtration system. An upstream HEPA H14 filter protects the motor and prevents ultrafine particles from reaching the ULPA filter prematurely — significantly extending the ULPA filter service life. The downstream ULPA U15 exhaust filter ensures that all air leaving the vacuum meets cleanroom quality. The ULPA filter achieves 99.999 % efficiency at 0.12 µm and 99.9995 % at 0.18 µm (MPPS), tested and documented in accordance with IEST-RP-CC001.

Tiger-Vac performs an aerosol leak test on the complete assembled unit before shipment. This test verifies not only the filter itself but also the gaskets, joints and every component of the air path — and the results are documented. It is a level of assurance that few manufacturers offer as standard.

The filter blockage indicator light alerts the operator when the collection bag is approaching capacity, so the bag can be changed before airflow is significantly reduced. In high-frequency environments, this small detail prevents unplanned interruptions and ensures consistent suction performance throughout the shift.

Important usage restriction: The CR-1200D is designed exclusively for dry material recovery. The unit must not be used with liquids, slurry or wet material, as the suction motor is not protected against moisture. The designation “Dry Recovery Only” is part of the official product name and reflects this restriction explicitly.

Choosing the Right Accessories Kit

Kit #3 (autoclavable) is the right choice when accessories must be autoclaved together with the tank — the hose is EPDM, the wands are stainless steel and the nozzles are food-grade silicone. Kit #2 (ESD safe) is engineered for environments with electrostatic requirements: conductive plastic, conductive nylon brushes and an ESD-rated hose. Kit #1 (standard) covers routine cleaning and is the cost-neutral starting point. The separate Needle Trap mounts on the hose and captures sharp objects — needles, broken glass and similar — in a tubular chamber on the hose, so they never reach the vacuum and cannot puncture the collection bag or the filter. The stainless steel holding bracket (part no. 219098B) mounts the hose and cable neatly to a fixed workstation and is recommended when the vacuum is used in a dedicated area.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most cleanroom vacuums have a single exhaust filter. In the CR-1200D, the HEPA H14 filter is positioned upstream — before the motor — and the ULPA U15 filter is positioned downstream, at the exhaust. The HEPA filter captures the coarser and medium-fine particles so that the ULPA filter is not overloaded prematurely. This significantly extends the ULPA filter service life and at the same time ensures that the motor is fully protected against particle ingress. The result is that the exhaust air consistently meets ISO Class 4 requirements, even after prolonged use.
Tiger-Vac tests each ULPA filter individually. In addition, an aerosol leak test is carried out on the complete assembled unit before it leaves the factory. This test does not only verify that the filter performs to specification — it also confirms that the gaskets, joints and every component of the air path are leak-tight. A filter with perfect efficiency ratings is worthless if there is a bypass leak around the filter seal. The test documentation is available on request and supports the validation process in GMP-regulated facilities.
Electropolishing is an electrochemical process that removes the outermost microscopic layers of the metal, leaving a smooth, mirror-bright surface free of microcracks and surface irregularities. In a pharmaceutical context this has two consequences: first, there are no places where particles or microorganisms can become trapped or adhere; second, the surface can be cleaned effectively with aggressive disinfectants without being attacked. Electropolished surfaces are the standard requirement in GMP Grade A and B environments and are recommended wherever cross-contamination is a risk.
Yes. The tank is secured with cam-lock clamps that allow the tank to be separated from the motor unit quickly and without tools. The white nylon wheels are also autoclavable. The motor unit and filters must not be autoclaved — but they do not need to be, as they are located in the clean air stream after filtration. Accessories such as the hose and nozzles can be autoclaved separately using Kit #3 (autoclavable accessories, part no. 323604).
The CR-1 ULPA is the compact, lightweight model (9 kg) with a plastic body and an optional stainless steel tank. It is well suited to laboratories and cleanrooms where weight is a priority and where there is no requirement to autoclave the entire unit. The CR-1200D (16 kg) offers full AISI 316 construction throughout, an electropolished surface, higher airflow (204 m³/h vs. 163 m³/h) and the dual HEPA H14 + ULPA U15 filtration system. Choose the CR-1200D when the process requires autoclaving, an electropolished surface, the highest material and corrosion specification (AISI 316), or when the validation requirements call for a documented factory aerosol leak test on the complete assembled unit.
The filter blockage indicator light activates when the resistance from the collection bag causes airflow to drop noticeably — a sign that the bag is approaching its capacity limit. It is a practical prompt to change the bag before suction performance degrades further. In environments handling potent compounds (OEB 3), the collection bag must be handled with gloves and disposed of in accordance with the facility's contaminated waste procedure. The collection bag (part no. 219027, pack of 5) is synthetic and white, and closes securely when removed.
Yes. The CR-1200D is designed specifically for pharmaceutical manufacturing and is compatible with the requirements for cleaning equipment in classified areas under GMP. CE marking is based on the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, the Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU and the EMC Directive 2014/30/EU. The EU Declaration of Conformity (issued April 2024) and the filter test report are available as validation documentation. The electropolished AISI 316 steel, the autoclavable tank and the documented aerosol leak test are all elements that support a GMP validation report.
