What is the Tiger-Vac T1-3L (BP) HEPA?

The T1-3L (BP) HEPA is a backpack vacuum from Tiger-Vac designed for daily cleaning in pharmaceutical production, laboratories and other life science environments. The BP designation stands for BackPack — the vacuum unit is worn on the back using an ergonomic harness system, leaving the operator's hands free to clean walls, ceilings, equipment and hard-to-reach areas that are simply inaccessible with a floor-standing vacuum.

The filtration system works in three stages: a 3 L disposable paper bag captures the coarser particles, a cloth pre-filter catches the intermediate fraction, and a HEPA H14 final filter removes 99.995 % of particles at 0.3 µm (MPPS). The HEPA filter is tested to IEST-RP-CC001 and rated H14 by the MPPS method in accordance with EN 1822. Crucially, each complete vacuum unit is aerosol leak tested at the factory before despatch, confirming that the filter seals are intact and performance matches the specification.

The Thru-Flow motor ensures that all air — including the motor cooling air — passes through the HEPA filter before being returned to the room. There are no uncontrolled airstreams in the vacuum's design. At 60 dB(A), the T1-3L (BP) HEPA is remarkably quiet for a backpack vacuum with a 1.3 kW motor — an important quality in environments where operators work for extended periods.

Important use restriction: The T1-3L (BP) HEPA is designed exclusively for dry recovery of dust and particles. It must not be used for liquids or wet material, as the motor is not protected against moisture. Please contact us if your facility requires combined wet and dry recovery.

Cloth filter and vacuum bags

The cloth filter (part no. 217504) is a permanent fabric filter positioned between the disposable bag and the HEPA filter. It captures the mid-range particles that may pass through the bag, extending the service life of the HEPA filter. Vacuum bags (part no. 212075, pack of 5) seal when removed from the tank, preventing collected material from being dispersed when the bag is changed.

Questions and answers

A backpack vacuum gives the operator free hands and is not limited to floor level. In pharmaceutical production there is often a need to clean hard-to-reach places such as ceilings, ventilation grilles, ductwork, machinery and high shelving — locations a floor vacuum cannot reach effectively. At only 5 kg, the T1-3L (BP) HEPA is light enough to wear for a full shift without disproportionate fatigue. Wide shoulder straps and the ergonomic body shape distribute the weight evenly across the back.
Tiger-Vac performs an aerosol integrity test on each individual vacuum unit before it leaves the factory. The test checks not just the HEPA filter in isolation, but the entire airpath — including gaskets and all joints — for leakage. Very few competitors offer this as standard. It provides documented assurance that the vacuum actually performs as stated on the data sheet, which is a meaningful contribution to validation documentation in regulated pharma environments.
Yes. The included accessories kit contains a hose, telescopic wands and specialist nozzles well suited for cleaning machines, process equipment and work surfaces. The backpack design provides excellent mobility around production equipment and allows cleaning in positions that are impossible with a floor vacuum. The unit cannot be connected directly to process equipment as an external point extraction source.
The vacuum bag (3 L, part no. 212075) closes when it is removed from the tank, preventing the collected material from being dispersed during handling. In environments with potent substances, the bag should be handled with gloves and disposed of in accordance with the facility's waste procedure for contaminated material. The cloth filter (part no. 217504) should be cleaned regularly, and the HEPA filter replaced when suction power noticeably decreases.
Yes. The T1-3L (BP) HEPA is CE marked under the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and complies with EN 60335-2-69 Class H — the standard for vacuum cleaners designed for hazardous dust types. The plastic body is easy to wipe down and disinfect, and HEPA H14 filtration meets GMP requirements for contamination control during routine cleaning operations. Validation documentation (EU Declaration of Conformity and filter test report) is available on request.
