COSMO
COSMO is a multi-purpose PVC vacuum hose with transparent green wall and white rigid PVC spiral. The hose is optimised for water suction applications with vacuum pumps - 0.6 bar negative pressure across the entire range. The slightly corrugated outer coating provides good flexibility, and the transparent wall allows visual inspection of media flow. Typically used in agriculture, construction sites, municipal services and industrial vacuum pump installations where PVC's pressure-temperature range is sufficient.

Why this hose?
The PVC construction is the key to COSMO's price-weight advantage. PVC is one of the cheapest industrial plastics, and the lightweight construction means the hose is easy to handle alone even in larger dimensions. For 0.6 bar vacuum and the 60 C range, PVC is fully sufficient and provides better value than EPDM or PUR-based alternatives.
The rigid PVC spiral is what makes the hose suitable for vacuum applications. The standard PVC wall alone would collapse under negative pressure - the spiral prevents this and maintains the hose's circular cross-section even under full 0.6 bar vacuum. The white spiral is visible through the transparent wall, simplifying installation and troubleshooting.
The slightly corrugated outer coating is not cosmetic - it is functional. The corrugation increases flexibility compared to smooth wall, meaning the hose can be bent to a smaller bend radius without the wall being crushed at the bend point. In practice this means the hose can be installed in compact spaces and around corners without losing vacuum capacity.
Where it is used
Agriculture uses the hose for water suction from wells and surface sources to irrigation systems. Typical installation: 30-50 m from water source to irrigation pump, with the hose laid in the field or on vehicles. The standard 0.6 bar vacuum rating covers most centrifugal pumps and pulsating pumps used in modern agriculture.
Construction sites use the hose for dewatering where rainwater or groundwater must be moved from excavations and foundations to drains. The PVC wall tolerates the hose lying on concrete, soil and under changing weather conditions without becoming brittle. The 50 m roll typically covers an entire dewatering installation without joints.
Industrial vacuum pump installations use the hose to connect pumps to transport or process tanks. The transparent wall makes visual inspection possible - the user can see whether the hose is sucking correctly and whether there are foreign objects blocking flow. This significantly reduces troubleshooting time.
The hose is colloquially known as a water vacuum hose, drainage hose or transparent suction hose.

Fields without a value (—) are not specified in the manufacturer's factsheet. Overpressure and underpressure values are recommended operating limits; the product can be subjected to higher loads on request. Bend radius is measured along the inside of the hose bend.
Standards and compliance
The hose is qualified per the central European standard for industrial plastic hoses. EN ISO 1307:2008 is the primary reference.
- EN ISO 1307:2008. European standard for rubber and thermoplastic hoses for general use. Defines dimensions, pressure tolerance and marking.
- EN 12115. European standard for rubber and thermoplastic hoses for liquids and chemicals.
- RoHS Directive (2011/65/EU). Restriction of hazardous substances. Manufacturer declaration on file.
- REACH (EC 1907/2006). Registration of chemical substances. Manufacturer declaration on request.
- ISO 9001:2015. Quality management system at the manufacturer. Ensures each batch follows the same specification.
- EN 13501-1. European classification of building materials for fire properties. PVC has generally self-extinguishing properties but is not specifically fire-classified.
- EU 1935/2004. Food contact regulation. The hose is NOT food-approved - for drinking water applications a specifically food-grade hose is recommended.

Industries that use it
COSMO is used where a light, flexible vacuum hose must handle water suction applications at moderate negative pressures - typically in agriculture, construction and municipal services.
Agricultural installations are the main market. Water vacuum pumps are used to suck water from wells, lakes or field drains to irrigation systems or water tanks. The hose's 0.6 bar vacuum rating covers typical agricultural vacuum pumps, and 50 m standard roll length is practical for fields where water sources may be far from production facilities.
Construction sites use the hose for dewatering and drainage - typically where rainwater or groundwater flush must be moved from exposed area to drain. The lightweight PVC construction is easy to move between stations, and the slightly corrugated outer coating allows the hose to be bent without kinking.
Municipal services use the hose for water and wastewater handling where vacuum pumps are involved - septic tank emptying, drainage maintenance and surface water handling. The transparent wall is functional here: the user can see whether the hose is sucking correctly or if it is clamped.
Custom lengths and assemblies
The hose can be delivered cut to desired lengths. The standard roll can be supplemented with shorter pieces or multiple rolls by arrangement.

Frequently asked questions
What is COSMO particularly suitable for?
The hose is a multi-purpose vacuum hose optimised for water suction applications with vacuum pumps. The lightweight PVC construction with rigid PVC spiral provides collapse resistance under suction up to 0.6 bar negative pressure - sufficient for most low-pressure pumps in agriculture, construction and industry.
What does slightly corrugated outer coating mean?
The hose's outer surface has a slightly corrugated structure (not completely smooth) that increases flexibility and facilitates compression for storage. It is a lightweight solution - the corrugation allows the hose to be bent without the wall being crushed, and it provides better handling when the hose is moved between positions.
How great is the vacuum resistance?
0.6 bar negative pressure on all dimensions - sufficient for most vacuum pump applications. The hose is NOT designed for high vacuum (above 0.8 bar) where specialised hoses with metal spirals and heavier walls are required. For low-pressure water suction applications 0.6 bar is typically plenty.
How many dimensions are in the range?
10 dimensions from ID 20 mm to 102 mm, all with 50 m standard roll length. This covers from smaller connection hoses up to main supply pipes in smaller vacuum systems. Vacuum rating (0.6 bar) is consistent across the range.
Is the hose suitable for drinking water?
The hose is an ordinary PVC hose without specific EU 1935/2004 or drinking water approval. For drinking water applications we recommend a specifically food-approved hose. COSMO is best suited to non-food-contact water applications such as surface water vacuum, drainage and irrigation.
What colour is the hose?
Green-transparent outer coating and inner tube, with white PVC spiral visible through the transparent wall. This is a special property - the user can visually inspect whether the hose contains liquid, particles or air without opening it. The green colour is an industry convention for vacuum/water applications.
What is the operating temperature?
-15 to +60 C. This is the PVC wall's limit - PVC becomes brittle below -10 C and soft above +65 C. The hose is NOT suitable for frost-exposed installations or hot-water applications. For a broader temperature range we recommend a TPE or EPDM-based hose.
Which couplings are recommended?
Standard worm-drive clamps or hose-end couplings - the PVC wall is stiff enough to hold standard coupling pressure without deforming. For higher vacuum applications we recommend metal crimp clamps to prevent coupling loss. We typically fit couplings to the hose by arrangement.
