CORROSIV®/EN
Pressure hose in full-EPDM (liner and cover) for conveying concentrated acids and alkalis. Working pressure 16 bar, burst pressure 64 bar, and a continuous copper wire in the construction makes the hose antistatic and electrically conductive (<109 Ω contact, <106 Ω core and cover). The construction is certified to EN 12115:2021 and TRbF 131 Part 2 § 5.5 — the German technical rules for flammable liquids.

Why this hose?
CORROSIV®/EN is a specialised pressure hose for the aggressive media that ordinary industrial hoses cannot handle — concentrated acids (sulphuric, hydrochloric, nitric) and concentrated alkalis (sodium hydroxide), among others. The EPDM liner is chemically resistant to a broad range of corrosive media, and the cover is EPDM as well, protecting against external influences.
The hose is antistatic and electrically conductive via a continuous copper wire and a conductive wall. That is a critical property for conveying flammable liquids — it meets the German TRbF 131 (§ 5.5) requirements, which is the regulatory framework for handling flammable liquids. Proper grounding must be established at installation; without it the conductive function is ineffective.
CORROSIV®/EN is a pure pressure hose with no vacuum-spiral reinforcement — the burst pressure is 64 bar (four times working pressure), but the hose will collapse under negative pressure. For applications that require suction, the sister product CORROSIV®/SP/EN, which has a steel spiral for vacuum work, should be selected instead.
Chemical compatibility must be verified for each application. The hose liner is specified for a certain class of chemicals, but temperature, concentration and contact time can significantly change compatibility. A material that holds at 30% acid at room temperature may be unsuitable at 60% acid at +60 °C.
We have access to the manufacturer's full resistance table and can verify compatibility for your specific medium. Contact us before installation if in doubt — it is cheaper than a failing hose.
Where it is used
The hose is used where a process requires the transfer of aggressive liquids without any suction load. That is, from a pump under positive pressure into another vessel — typically loading, dosing or internal transfer.
In practice it is most often seen for acid and alkali transfer in chemical production, for hot-water service in combination with cleaning processes (maximum steam-cleaning temperature is +130 °C), and for flammable-liquid transfer where TRbF 131 conformity is required.
It has a narrow bore range (Ø 19–50 mm) and is therefore well suited to dosing lines, filling stations and laboratory operations. It is also a common choice on tank trucks for loading from terminal — but only in the loading direction, not in unloading if suction is needed.
The formal name is CORROSIV®/EN. In daily use it is referred to as an "EPDM acid hose", a "CORROSIV hose" or simply an "EN hose" — the latter because the "EN" suffix denotes European Norm conformity (EN 12115).

For specific chemicals and concentrations, see the chemical resistance table. While EPDM is compatible with a broad range of aggressive media, there are important exceptions — typically oils, fat-based liquids and many chlorinated solvents. For media not compatible with EPDM, other constructions in the range may be relevant: CP VITON® 459 EC (FKM liner for the most aggressive chemicals) or CP PTFE-INOX 475 EC (PTFE liner + ATEX).
Dimensions and ordering
CORROSIV®/EN is supplied in 5 standard sizes from inner Ø 19 mm to 50 mm. Each size has its own article number at the manufacturer. Standard roll length is typically 40 m, and the hose can be cut to length.

Note: Fields without a value (—) are not specified in the manufacturer's factsheet. Overpressure and underpressure are recommended operating limits; the product can be subjected to higher loads on request. Bend radius is measured along the inside of the hose. Contact us for full specifications or special variants.
Standards and compliance
The hose is tested and documented in compliance with European and German standards for chemical-resistant hoses. The standard code is imprinted directly on the cover.
- REACH (EC 1907/2006). EU regulation on registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemicals. The hose's materials are REACH-compliant; manufacturer's declaration is available for download.
- RoHS (Directive 2011/65/EU). Restriction of Hazardous Substances — restriction on the use of certain hazardous substances in electronic products. The hose's components comply with RoHS limit values.
The hose is not ATEX-certified. TRbF 131 is a German national regulation for flammable liquids and is not the same as the ATEX directive's explosion protection.

Industries that use it
CORROSIV®/EN is used in industries where aqueous acids and alkalis are central process media. Common to all of them is the combination of chemical resistance, high burst strength and the ability to be steam-cleaned at high temperatures.
In the chemical industry, the hose sits in internal transfer lines between reactors, storage tanks and dosing systems. The EPDM construction is chosen because it covers the span of concentrated acids and alkalis without needing to switch hose types between processes.
In the petrochemical industry, it is used for loading flammable liquids (TRbF 131 conformity is the requirement) and in dosing systems on refineries and chemical plants. In laboratory operations and pilot plants, it is used in smaller diameters (Ø 19–50 mm) in setups where coupled glassware and pumps need to be connected by a chemically resistant flexible hose.
In food and pharmaceutical cleaning processes, it appears in CIP/SIP cycles, where the hose is cleaned with hot water or steam up to +130 °C — but the hose itself is not food-grade and must not contact food directly. For direct food contact, specific FOOD variants are available.
Custom lengths and assemblies
CORROSIV®/EN can be cut to length and assembled with couplings, cuffs and threads to fit your installation precisely. We produce complete hose assemblies with crimped ferrules, clamp collars or threaded connections, depending on what the process requires.
For chemical installations, couplings must be materially compatible with the medium — typically PTFE, EPDM or FKM gaskets and stainless steel fittings. Contact us with your medium and we'll select the right assembly.

Frequently asked questions
Which chemicals can CORROSIV®/EN handle?
The EPDM liner has broad chemical resistance to acids (sulphuric, nitric, hydrochloric), alkalis (sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide) and a range of inorganic chemicals in aqueous solutions. It is not suitable for solvents or oils — for these applications, a UPE- or PTFE-based hose is recommended. Always consult a chemical resistance chart for the specific medium.
Can the hose be steam-cleaned?
Yes. Maximum cleaning temperature with steam is +130 °C, which is a strong specification for chemical hoses. This makes CORROSIV®/EN suitable for processes where the hose must be steam-cleaned between media changes — important in tank truck applications where traceability is critical.
Can the hose be used for flammable liquids?
Yes. The hose is TRbF 131-approved (section 5.5) for loading, unloading and transport of flammable liquids. The electrical conductivity (cover and core <10⁶ Ω) ensures that static electricity can be dissipated, provided the entire system is properly grounded.
What is the difference between CORROSIV®/EN and SUPERCHEM®/UPE/EN?
CORROSIV®/EN has an EPDM liner and is ideal for aqueous acids and alkalis. SUPERCHEM®/UPE/EN has a UPE liner and is ideal for solvents, oils and broader chemical exposure. We advise on material selection for specific media.
Can the hose be supplied in custom lengths?
Yes. The hose can be cut to length and assembled with chemical-resistant couplings and flanges through Particulair's custom hose assemblies. Standard roll length is 40 m for all dimensions.
