CP VITON® 459 EC
Clamp-profile hose with Viton® liner (FKM fluoroelastomer) for extraction of chemical vapours at elevated temperatures — up to +210 °C. It shares its base construction with CP PE 457 EC (clamp profile, 4:1 compressibility, conductive wall <103 Ω, ATEX approval to Zone 0/1/2 and Zone 22), but the FKM liner opens the higher temperature window that the PE liner cannot reach.
- Chemical-resistant
- EPDM liner
- Highly flexible
- Up to +200 °C
- Conductive <103 Ω
- Cut to length
Why this hose?
CP VITON® 459 EC is the high-temperature variant in the CP family of clamp-profile hoses. Viton (FKM) is a fluoroelastomer that retains mechanical integrity and chemical resistance well above the polyethylene temperature limit. The normal operating range is −20 °C to +210 °C, which is high for a clamp-profile hose.
The construction is identical to CP PE 457 EC on every other point: 4:1 compressibility for compact storage, electrically conductive wall (<103 Ω) for ATEX zones, clamp-profile geometry for flexibility on swivelling arms. Only the liner differs — and with it the temperature and chemical coverage.
The hose is ATEX 2014/34/EU certified for Zone 0, 1 and 2 (gases) and Zone 22 (dust) interior, and it is TRGS 727 compliant. In applications that both develop high temperatures and demand ATEX approval, 459 EC is often the realistic remaining choice.
Chemical compatibility must be verified for each application. The hose liner is specified for a certain class of chemicals, but temperature, concentration and contact time can significantly change compatibility. A material that holds at 30% acid at room temperature may be unsuitable at 60% acid at +60 °C.
We have access to the manufacturer's full resistance table and can verify compatibility for your specific medium. Contact us before installation if in doubt — it is cheaper than a failing hose.
Where it is used
The hose is used where a process generates hot vapours in ATEX zones — typically on swivelling extraction arms above chemical reactors, for spray-mist extraction in painting and surface treatment, and for powder handling where the medium is too hot for the PE variant.
In the chemical industry, it sits on fume hoods above hot distillations, on gas transfer lines where the medium exceeds +80 °C, and on extraction systems for high-temperature processes.
The size range is Ø 38–356 mm — broader at the small end than CP PE 457 EC, which starts at Ø 50.5 mm, although not down into the most specialised small-bore dimensions. Standard roll length is 6 m, and the hose can be cut to length.
The formal name is CP VITON® 459 EC. In daily use it is called "the Viton hose", "459 EC" or "the hot version of the clamp-profile hose" — placed above CP PE 457 EC on the temperature spectrum.

Both hoses are clamp profile with a conductive wall, ATEX approval and 4:1 compressibility — only the liner differs. CP PE 457 EC has a polyethylene liner and operates up to +80 °C in normal service. CP VITON® 459 EC has an FKM liner and operates up to +210 °C in normal service. Choose 457 EC for low/medium temperature — it is typically lower-cost and covers more standard applications. Choose 459 EC when the process requires higher temperatures.

Note: Fields without a value (—) are not specified in the manufacturer's factsheet. Overpressure and underpressure are recommended operating limits; the product can be subjected to higher loads on request. Bend radius is measured along the inside of the hose. Standards and compliance
The hose is tested and certified to the following standards:
- ATEX 2014/34/EU (1999/92/EC). European directive for equipment and protective systems intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. The hose is certified under this legislation and may be used in the zones specified by the ATEX marking.
- TRGS 727. German technical rules for hazardous substances, avoidance of ignition sources when handling combustible dusts and liquids. The hose's electrical conduction meets TRGS 727's limit values.
- REACH (EC 1907/2006). EU regulation on registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemicals. The hose's materials are REACH-compliant; manufacturer's declaration is available for download.
- RoHS (Directive 2011/65/EU). Restriction of Hazardous Substances — restriction on the use of certain hazardous substances in electronic products. The hose's components comply with RoHS limit values.

Industries that use it
The hose is used across a wide range of industries — below is an overview of the most typical industries where CP VITON® 459 EC is used:
In the chemical industry, the hose sits on hot process setups — typically distillations, high-temperature reactors and purification rigs where vapours up to +210 °C must be extracted. ATEX approval is decisive when vapours can be flammable.
In extraction and filtration, it is used for high-temperature powders and hot gases in central systems. The fluoroelastomer-based liner means temperatures that would soften PE are tolerated without loss of mechanical integrity.
In the petrochemical and refinery industries, it appears on vapour-return systems and high-temperature transfer lines. In pharma and laboratory operations, it is used on fume hoods above hot distillations and synthesis setups.
Custom lengths and assemblies
CP VITON® 459 EC can be cut to length and assembled with couplings, cuffs and threads to fit your installation precisely. We produce complete hose assemblies with crimped ferrules, clamp collars or threaded connections, depending on what the process requires.
For ATEX installations it is particularly important that couplings and assemblies preserve the hose's electrical continuity. It's about the whole system conducting static electricity away, not just the hose itself.

Frequently asked questions
Which chemicals can the hose handle?
It depends on the material selection in liner and cover. Compatibility is verified against the manufacturer's chemical resistance table — contact Particulair before installation if in doubt. We have access to the full table.
Is the hose ATEX-approved?
It depends on the variant. Conductive (EC) variants are ATEX-approved. Antistatic variants are TRbF 131-compliant for flammable liquids. Standard insulating variants are NOT for ATEX use.
Can the hose be cleaned after a media change?
Yes, but the cleaning medium must be compatible with the liner. Water and steam flushing is often sufficient; for aggressive residues, solvent flushing may be necessary — verify against the resistance table first.
How long does the hose last with strong acids?
It depends on concentration, temperature and contact duration. EPDM liner typically lasts 1-3 years under continuous contact with 30% acids at room temperature; FKM/Viton lasts longer at elevated temperatures. Visual inspection every 6 months is recommended.
Can the hose be cut to length with couplings?
Yes. We cut the hose and install couplings that are materially compatible with the medium. This typically means PTFE, EPDM or FKM seals and stainless steel fittings.
