Why this hose?

CP PTFE/GLASS-INOX 471 is one of the CP range's most specialised hoses — built to handle the most aggressive chemical media and highest temperatures in the range. The double-layer construction (PTFE inner lining + glass fibre reinforcement) provides chemical resistance that surpasses almost all other flexible hoses.

PTFE is the material with the broadest chemical resistance available — it resists practically all industrial chemicals at almost any concentration and temperature up to +260 °C. The anti-adhesion property also means materials don't stick to the inner lining, which is critical in powder and spray applications where blockages must be avoided.

PTFE is teflon PTFE (polytetrafluorethylene) is the generic name for the material known in consumer products as Teflon®. In industrial hoses PTFE is chosen because it's chemically inert toward almost everything — from concentrated acids through bases to solvents and oxidising agents.

Where it is used

In the chemical industry the hose typically sits on the most challenging installations: aggressive chemical vapours, concentrated acids, oxidising media. Standard PVC or silicone hoses would here be underdimensioned or directly unsuitable.

In pharma it's used for high-purity applications where adhesion is a problem — e.g. powder handling where even micro-deposits can contaminate subsequent batches.

In everyday talk we call it a "PTFE clamp hose" or "INOX-PTFE" — it's the CP range's top model for chemical-aggressive applications.

  • RoHS. Directive 2011/65/EU.

Help with material selection

Although this hose isn't ATEX-relevant, these two articles provide useful background on electrical resistance and industrial safety — important if you later combine the hose with electrical equipment or work in mixed environments:

Industries that use it

CP PTFE/GLASS-INOX 471 is used in demanding chemical and pharmaceutical industrial applications:

In chemical industry PTFE-based hoses are often the only viable solution for transport of aggressive media. The double-layer construction and INOX clamp profile give mechanical durability that matches the chemical resistance.

In pharma the anti-adhesion property is often the decisive parameter. PTFE's smooth surface means residues of media don't stick — critical in batch productions where contamination between batches must be avoided.

Custom lengths and assemblies

The hose is delivered on 3 m, 6 m and 10 m rolls. We cut to length and fit INOX flange couplings or PTFE-lined couplings as a finished assembly — important that the entire system (hose + couplings) is chemically compatible.

For specific chemical process facilities we can advise on coupling materials that match your specific medium.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between CP PTFE/GLASS-INOX 471 and CP PTFE/GLASS-INOX 471 EC?

Standard 471 is insulating. The EC variant has conductive properties (typically via carbon addition in the material or a conductive inner lining) — it's ATEX-relevant. Choose 471 for standard chemical applications; choose 471 EC for ATEX zones.

How broad is PTFE's chemical resistance?

PTFE is the material with the broadest chemical resistance available among flexible polymers. It resists practically all industrial chemicals — from concentrated acids (sulfuric, nitric) through strong bases (NaOH) to solvents and oxidising agents like chlorine water. The few exceptions are molten alkali metals and fluorine gas at high temperatures — rare industrial applications.

What does anti-adhesive mean?

PTFE has a very smooth surface at the molecular level — materials can't chemically or mechanically bind. This means powders, liquids or fatty media don't create deposits in the hose over time, critical in pharma and specific chemical process applications.

Does it tolerate +270 °C continuously?

No — +270 °C is peak. Continuous service is +260 °C. At continuous service above +260 °C PTFE gradually degrades (sintering/creep), so it's a hard limit.

Is it ATEX-approved?

The standard 471 variant is insulating and NOT ATEX-approved. For ATEX applications choose the 471 EC variant.

Can I get it with specific flanges?

Yes. We typically fit INOX flanges or PTFE-lined flanges as a finished assembly. It's important that the entire system is chemically compatible — tell us which medium you transport, and we'll suggest the right coupling material.
