What is Delfin PHARMA 20.18?

PHARMA 20.18 is Delfin's most popular fixed pharmaceutical vacuum, purpose-built for on-board suctioning in pharmaceutical manufacturing, semiconductor, and biotech industries. The entire unit is constructed in AISI304 stainless steel—an alloy that resists corrosion from the aggressive disinfectants and chemicals used in classified areas. The tank exterior finish is heat-treated satin, while the interior surface is polished for maximum ease of cleaning.

The heart of PHARMA 20.18 is the innovative star filter with integrated manual cleaning system. The filter is constructed as a twelve-pointed star that rotates when you insert your arms into the machine’s guided sleeves—simple and safe. The filter medium is antistatic polyester class M per IEC 60335-2-69, ensuring electrostatic discharge without compromising filter efficiency. For the highest cleaning standard, you can add an optional H14 HEPA filter (99.995% at MPPS)—perfect for OEB 4–5 classified environments.

The clamp connection (50 mm) is fabricated in AISI304 stainless steel and can be fitted to various hose diameters without adapters. The unit is fully compliant with GMP requirements in classified mid-size facilities and can be equipped with a safe bag system for completely enclosed handling of potent materials.

With an airflow of 270 m³/h and maximum vacuum of 3,000 mmH2O, PHARMA 20.18 is ideal for continuous operation in mid-size clean rooms and facilities without requiring dedicated foundations or complex installation. The modular design with integrated transport handle makes it easy to relocate between different work stations.

GMP Compliance: PHARMA 20.18 is engineered for pharmaceutical production and meets material and surface specifications for classified mid-size clean rooms (ISO class 4–5). With optional H14 HEPA filter, it can support OEB class 4–5 process requirements. The safe bag system option enables fully enclosed handling of potent materials in compliance with GMP Annex 15.

Questions and Answers

On-board suctioning means the vacuum is mounted directly at the production line or work station—not in a centralized system far away. PHARMA 20.18 is designed for exactly this: it is compact enough to fit under a production table, yet powerful enough (270 m³/h) to handle continuous operation. This means shorter hose runs, less particle dispersion, and a cleaner work environment.
The star filter is an innovative design shaped like a twelve-pointed star. It is cleaned by manual rotation: you insert your arms into the machine's guided sleeves, grasp the star, and rotate it. This rotation flexes the filter fabric and shakes loose particles. It is simple, safe, and requires no electrical power or complex electronics— completely mechanical and intuitive.
The optional H14 HEPA filter (99.995% filter efficiency at MPPS) is required for operations classified as OEB 4–5 (Operations at Elevated BioHazard), or when local or international regulations mandate absolute highest possible exhaust air quality. Without the H14 HEPA filter, the star filter is still high-quality antistatic polyester meeting class M per IEC 60335-2-69, but with lower absolute filter efficiency. Ask an expert to determine your OEB level.
AISI304 stainless steel is the preferred alloy for pharmaceutical production equipment due to its excellent resistance to the strong disinfectants and chemicals used in classified areas. It costs less than AISI316 and fully meets GMP requirements. AISI316 adds molybdenum for extra corrosion resistance and is typically used only when particularly aggressive chemicals or marine environments are involved—not typical for pharma.
The safe bag system is an accessory kit that enables completely enclosed handling of collected material without opening the unit directly. The bag is emptied from the machine straight into a sealed container or waste system. It is critical when handling potent materials (OEB 3–5) because it eliminates worker exposure to toxic particles when changing the collection bag. The system is optional but highly recommended for pharmaceutical facilities.
No. PHARMA 20.18 is designed exclusively for dry collection. The motor and electrical components are not protected against moisture or liquids. If you need to collect liquids or sludge, you must use a dedicated wet/dry model. Using PHARMA 20.18 for wet collection will permanently damage the motor.
