The CANISTER as the second stage of the containment system

The CANISTER (CST.DC-001) is the filter unit — the second stage of Delfin's modular containment system for pharmaceutical production. It receives the airstream from the cyclone separator (SEP.DC-020), which has already removed up to 98 % of the powder, and filters the remaining fraction to H14 level at 99.995 % efficiency at 0.18 µm. Filter replacement is carried out using the BIBO method as standard, so the operator never contacts the collected material. The CANISTER is mobile on four wheels and can be positioned in the technical room alongside the CV vacuum unit, or directly on the production floor next to the process machinery.

CV Vacuum Station

Free-standing vacuum unit with side channel blower — located in technical room. Available in 1.8–7.5 kW.

The CANISTER is not a complete vacuum cleaner: It is a filter unit that requires a connected vacuum unit (CV series) as the negative pressure source. In the standard system the CANISTER is placed in the chain SEP.DC-020 → CANISTER → CV unit. Contact us for guidance on the right configuration.

H14 BIBO filtration in detail

The H14 absolute filter fitted in the CANISTER has a filter surface of 100,000 cm² and meets class H14 in accordance with EN 1822, corresponding to 99.995 % efficiency at the MPPS particle size of 0.18 µm. This is the absolute filtration level required in OEB 4–5 processes to protect the environment and operator.

Filter replacement is carried out using the BIBO method (Bag-in Bag-out): the spent filter is encapsulated in a special bag before being removed from the filter housing, so the operator never directly contacts the contaminated filter. A spare parts kit containing a new H14 filter and BIBO bag is available under part number KT.2961.0000.

As an option, the CANISTER can be fitted with a differential pressure sensor that continuously monitors the filter's pressure drop and transmits electrical signals to the facility's BMS system. This enables planned maintenance based on actual filter loading rather than fixed intervals.

The CANISTER is mounted on four wheels and is supplied with a fold-down work surface that facilitates handling during filter replacement. The construction is in satin-finished AISI 304 stainless steel, providing the robustness and GMP compatibility required in pharmaceutical production environments.

Questions and answers

No. The CANISTER is a pure filter unit with no integrated motor and requires a connected vacuum unit (CV series, Stage 3) as the negative pressure source. It is designed as Stage 2 of the three-stage containment system and is always used in combination with the SEP.DC-020 cyclone separator (Stage 1) and a CV vacuum unit (Stage 3). Contact us for guidance on the right system configuration.
BIBO (Bag-in Bag-out) is a method for safe replacement of absolute filters, in which the spent filter is encapsulated in a sterile single-use bag before being removed from the filter housing. This ensures the operator never directly contacts the contaminated filter. The crimping tool (KT.1782.0000) is used to seal the bag hermetically. A spare parts kit with a new H14 filter and BIBO bag is ordered as KT.2961.0000.
Filter service life depends on the actual powder loading and airflow. Because the SEP.DC-020 cyclone separator (Stage 1) already removes up to 98 % of the powder, the fraction reaching the H14 filter is very small — significantly extending filter life. With the optional differential pressure sensor, the filter's pressure drop is monitored continuously, so replacement can be planned based on actual loading rather than fixed intervals.
Yes, with the optional differential pressure sensor. The sensor transmits electrical signals based on the pressure drop across the H14 filter and can be integrated into the facility's BMS system for continuous monitoring and alarming. Contact us to determine which signal type suits your system.
The CANISTER is compatible with CV series vacuum units up to 1,000 m³/h, which covers the entire CV range from CV113 (1.8 kW) to CV126 (7.5 kW). The choice of vacuum unit is based on the resistance of the pipe system, the number of simultaneous extraction points and the distance from the process machinery to the technical room. We are happy to advise on the correct sizing.

Can we help you configure the right three-stage system for your OEB processes?

We advise on configuration, sizing and integration of the SEP.DC-020, CANISTER and CV vacuum unit — tailored to your process equipment, OEB requirements and facility layout. Advisory is free and without obligation.
