VENTILAZIONE/CALOR
VENTILAZIONE/CALOR is a corrugated, heat-resistant ventilation hose for hot-air, smoke, chemical vapours and engine exhaust. TPE construction with embedded steel spiral provides high flexibility, kink resistance and collapse resistance under moderate vacuum levels. Typically used in extraction systems, engine ventilation, chemical vapor extraction and industrial hot-air distributions up to 120 C continuous.

Why this hose?
VENTILAZIONE/CALOR differs from standard vacuum cleaner hoses in two ways: temperature capacity is significantly higher (120 C continuous vs typically 60-80 C), and the corrugated construction provides higher flexibility and length tolerance. Both are decisive for hot-air applications.
The embedded steel spiral is not only for collapse resistance - it also functions as a thermal stabiliser that prevents the hose from deforming at high temperatures. TPE alone can become soft at 120 C; the spiral ensures the hose retains its shape.
Corrugated outside with smooth inside provides a specific compromise: external flexibility and length tolerance, while the smooth inside reduces flow resistance and prevents particle accumulation. It is precisely the form-to-function design for hot-air extraction.
Where it is used
Industrial extraction at production is the main application: exhaust from welding, smelting and foundry systems, vapor extraction from chemical production, and hot-air ventilation on engine test rigs. The hose is typically mounted between suction point and filter or chimney connection.
Motor and vehicle test installations use the hose for exhaust system connection and engine room ventilation. The hotter exhaust gases (up to 120-145 C at peak) require TPE formulation to avoid rapid degradation of the hose wall.
Injection moulding machines and plastics processing installations use the hose for hot-air extraction from moulds and vapors from melt cycles. The hose is often permanently installed with 5-10 years of operating time expected at typical temperature profiles.
VENTILAZIONE/CALOR is colloquially known as a hot-air hose or hot-air extraction hose.

Industries that use it
VENTILAZIONE/CALOR is used where hot-air handling requires a hose with higher thermal capacity than standard vacuum cleaner hoses. Main applications are industrial extraction, engine ventilation and chemical vapor extraction.
Industrial extraction and filtration systems are the main market. Hot-air and smoke from production processes can be up to 100+ C at the suction point - a level too hot for standard PVC hoses and requiring TPE formulations like VENTILAZIONE/CALOR.
Motor and vehicle industry use the hose for exhaust system connection and engine ventilation on test rigs. Corrugated construction makes the hose well-suited to locations where length flexibility is critical due to mechanical vibration or thermal expansion.
Chemical industry and plastics processing use the hose for vapor extraction from solvent and moulding processes. The high temperature capacity combined with steel spiral stiffness makes the hose well-suited to continuous operation with hot gas under moderate negative pressure.
Custom lengths and assemblies
The hose can be delivered cut to desired lengths. The standard roll can be supplemented with shorter pieces or multiple rolls by arrangement.

Frequently asked questions
What is VENTILAZIONE/CALOR built for?
VENTILAZIONE/CALOR is a corrugated, heat-resistant ventilation hose for hot air, smoke, chemical vapours and exhaust gases. Up to 120 C in continuous operation and 145 C in brief peaks. The TPE construction is highly flexible and combined with a steel spiral providing collapse resistance under suction.
What temperature does the hose tolerate?
-40 to +120 C in continuous operation. Brief temperature peaks up to 145 C are accepted. This covers most industrial hot-air applications incl. extraction from moulds, engine rooms and exhaust systems.
Which dimensions does VENTILAZIONE/CALOR come in?
A wide range from ID 51 mm to ID 152 mm - 11 standard dimensions. The larger dimensions (above 102 mm) are delivered in 15 m rolls; the smaller in 20 m rolls. For specific installation lengths we also supply cut pieces or finished configurations.
What is corrugated construction and what does it do?
Corrugated means the hose's wall has repeating ring-shaped folds rather than a smooth surface. This provides three benefits: higher flexibility and kink resistance (can bend at greater angles without collapsing), better tolerance for length change under thermal expansion, and a slight visual/tactile indication of the hose's orientation.
Is the hose suitable for ATEX zones?
The hose has no explicit ATEX marking on the factsheet. TPE is typically not conductive without special formulation. For ATEX zone-1 or zone-2 we recommend a conductive or antistatic variant - contact us for ATEX-suitable ventilation hoses.
What vacuum resistance does the hose have?
Vacuum resistance varies from 0.22 bar (51 mm ID) down to 0.07 bar (152 mm ID). This is typical for hot-air extraction: larger hoses tolerate less negative pressure because the same wall thickness must withstand greater force relative to circumference. For higher vacuum levels we recommend a special suction-rated variant with denser steel spiral.
What is the difference between VENTILAZIONE/CALOR and a standard vacuum cleaner hose?
Standard vacuum cleaner hoses typically tolerate 60-80 C. VENTILAZIONE/CALOR is specifically formulated for 120 C continuous operation and 145 C in peaks - a level necessary for hot-air extraction and exhaust systems where air can be up to 100+ C. The TPE formulation is optimised for this higher thermal load.
How long does the hose last?
Service life depends primarily on operating temperature and flexibility cycles. Operation at 120 C is the largest load mode - typical service life 2-4 years in daily industrial operation. Operation at lower temperatures (70-90 C) can give 5-7 years. Annual visual inspection for crack formation in the corrugations is recommended.
