Tiger-Vac CD-15 (DT) EX (MFS) Z22
Three-phase TEFC ATEX II 3GD vacuum -- 55 L detachable tank, 320 m3/h, 60 mm conductive intake, MFS, for Zone 22 dust and Zone 2 gas simultaneously
- Process production with simultaneous gas Zone 2 and dust Zone 22 (refinery boundary zones, chemical industry)
- Pharma production where solvents and combustible powder occur simultaneously
- Bakery, milling and sugar industry with gas emissions
- Paint shops where solvent vapour and powder are collected together
- Sites where a compact 60 cm width and 320 m3/h flow is a good balance
- ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU -- II 3GD Ex h tc IIIC T125 C Dc IP65 -- -5 C <= Ta <= +37 C -- EN 17348 DT -- ATEX 1st party certified
- EN 17348:2022 (harmonized March 2023)
- IEC 60335-2-69 (industrial vacuums)
Tiger-Vac CD-15 (DT) EX (MFS) Z22
The Tiger-Vac CD-15 (DT) EX (MFS) Z22 is the three-phase ATEX combined vacuum with category 3GD marking -- approved for Zone 2 gas + Zone 22 dust simultaneously. It is the smallest in the CD series, but with high performance: a 2600 W TEFC induction motor delivers 320 m3/h at 3260 mmH2O and 73 dB(A). 55 L detachable tank, AISI 304 stainless steel body, and equipped with a 60 mm conductive intake, conductive rear wheels with brakes, a filter blockage indicator gauge and a silencer. The Manual Filter Shaker (MFS) shakes the star-shaped Teflon-coated SD main filter clean. Compact dimensions (110 x 60 x 145 cm) give good mobility in process areas where combined zone marking is required.
Applications
- Process production with simultaneous gas Zone 2 and dust Zone 22 (refinery boundary zones, chemical industry)
- Pharma production where solvents and combustible powder occur simultaneously
- Bakery, milling and sugar industry with gas emissions
- Paint shops where solvent vapour and powder are collected together
- Sites where a compact 60 cm width and 320 m3/h flow is a good balance

Questions and answers
What does category 3GD mean?
Category 3GD is the ATEX combined marking for external Zone 2 gas + external Zone 22 dust. "3" indicates category 3 (lowest ATEX level, for zones where explosive atmosphere is expected only rarely and briefly), and "GD" means gas + dust. The CD-15 may therefore be used in rooms where both types of explosive atmosphere can occur simultaneously -- typically refinery boundary zones, chemical industry and pharma production with solvents.
Can it pick up liquids?
No. The CD-15 is certified EN 17348 DT -- dry recovery only. For wet/dry recovery in combined zones see the ATEX-12A (4W) or (2+2W).
Why TEFC motor instead of a classic by-pass?
TEFC = Totally Enclosed Fan-Cooled. The entire motor housing is sealed and cooled by an external fan, making the unit suitable for continuous duty 24/7. By-pass motors (as in the C series) are designed for intermittent use and do not have the same thermal endurance. The CD-15's 2600 W TEFC can run continuously without temperature derating.
What is the VRV setting at 2650 mmH2O?
VRV (Vacuum Relief Valve) is a safety valve that opens at a set vacuum level to protect the motor from overload. On the CD-15 the VRV is set to 2650 mmH2O -- below the maximum vacuum of 3260 mmH2O. If the suction hose blocks or the filter clogs, the VRV automatically opens and lets air pass around the vacuum circuit. This significantly extends motor life.
Why a 60 mm intake rather than 50 mm?
A 60 mm conductive intake gives lower flow resistance at high air flow (320 m3/h) and is better matched to larger hose diameter with correspondingly larger tools. A 50 mm intake is fine for smaller machines, but at 320 m3/h a 50 mm intake creates a bottleneck and reduces effective suction flow. Tiger-Vac always matches the intake diameter to the motor's flow capacity.
