Tiger-Vac EXP1-5 (4W) RE HEPA

The Tiger-Vac EXP1-5 (4W) RE HEPA is the industry's smallest explosion-proof canister vacuum, certified II 2GD to EN 17348 for simultaneous Zone 1 gas and Zone 21 dust. The single-phase TEFC motor delivers 224 m³/h at 1550 mmH₂O in a compact 27 kg / 75 cm low-profile unit that reaches workspaces larger vacuums cannot. H14 HEPA filter (99.995 % at 0.3 µm, EN 1822-5) and a static-dissipative tool kit are included as standard.

Questions and answers

What does II 2GD mean in the ATEX marking?

II 2GD means category 2 for both gas and dust. The unit may be used in areas where explosive atmospheres OCCASIONALLY occur during normal operation -- that is external Zone 1 for gas and Zone 21 for dust. Category 2 does NOT cover the interior of the equipment (Zone 0/20) -- that requires category 1. EN 17348:2022 is the harmonised standard that specifies test requirements for vacuums in this category.

Can I use the model in Zone 0 or Zone 20?

No. II 2GD requires category 2 externally -- Zone 1 gas and Zone 21 dust. Zone 0 (gas continuously present) and Zone 20 (dust continuously present) require category 1 equipment, which for vacuums is typically marked II 1/2GD or II 1GD. Choose e.g. the Delfin AIREX 1/2D-2/2G range for internal Zone 20 + external Zone 1/21.

How compact is the EXP1-5 really?

L × W × H = 530 × 610 × 750 mm, weight 27 kg, container 12.9 L. It is the industry's smallest explosion-proof canister vacuum, can be lifted into place by one person, fits under lab benches and is moved between workstations without a truck.

Is the HEPA filter standard or optional?

HEPA H14 to EN 1822-5 (99.995 % MPPS at 0.3 µm) is standard on this model. ULPA filter can be specified if the application requires a higher class.

How is the collected material handled safely?

The conductive poly liner (212100A) is placed in the container before use. When the dust has been collected, the liner is sealed and disposed of without direct contact -- critical for both occupational safety and ATEX hygiene, because the liner is static-dissipative and cannot build electrostatic charge during disposal. Always keep the same ESD chain on bags, hoses and accessories, and always ground the unit during operation.

Can it pick up liquids?

No -- the EXP1-5 is a dry-only recovery unit (EN 17348 DT). For dry + wet within the same II 2GD envelope, choose the EXP1-10/15 (4W) RE (EN 17348 DT/LC, non-flammable liquids) or the EXP1-10 (4W) RE HEPA (MRAC) (also flammable liquids).
