Tiger-Vac CD-35L (DT) EX (MRP) EXTENDED 2D Z21
The Tiger-Vac CD-35L (DT) EX (MRP) EXTENDED 2D Z21 is the extended variant of the CD-35L series -- marked II 1/2D to EN 17348 DT. 'EXTENDED' means the model has additional height in the filter chamber and includes a safety filter (215393TA-SD, main filter assembly with laces, epitropic polyester w/PTFE, for model ATEX 22E) as backup behind the reverse-purge cartridge (214182A, 16"H x 3.63"ID x 7.932"OD, 1" pleats, 13 sq ft). This two-layer solution provides additional safety against breakthrough if the primary cartridge is damaged. A foam silencer (213887) is included when the unit runs without a HEPA filter. The three-phase TEFC motor (3.4 kW, 8 A) delivers 306 m3/h at 2540 mmH2O. The entire cabinet is built in stainless steel Type 304 on a heavy-duty powder coated cart.

Questions and answers
What does 'EXTENDED' mean in the model name?
The EXTENDED variant has additional height in the filter chamber and includes a safety filter as a backup. The safety filter (215393TA-SD) is a traditional main filter assembly in epitropic polyester with PTFE coating and laces, developed for ATEX model 22E. In the EXTENDED configuration it acts as a safety net: if the reverse-purge cartridge (214182A) is damaged or perforated during normal operation, the safety filter catches the breakthrough dust before it reaches the motor or final filter. This is particularly valuable for fibrous or sharp-edged dust where the primary cartridge can be torn open.
What is the difference between CD-35L EXTENDED and CD-36L?
The two models are not identical: CD-35L EXTENDED has a 35 L tank, 125 kg weight, dimensions 142x61x102 cm, and includes safety filter 215393TA-SD. CD-36L has a 36 L tank, 99 kg weight, dimensions 178x56x78 cm, and does not include a safety filter as standard. Both use the same reverse-purge cartridge family (214182A/214181A series) and both come as II 1/2D or II 2D variants. So CD-35L EXTENDED is the taller and heavier model with extra safety; CD-36L is the compact standard model.
How is the safety filter replaced?
The safety filter (215393TA-SD) sits in the filter chamber behind the reverse-purge cartridge and is mounted on a wire cage (218390, stainless steel 304). To replace it: remove the reverse-purge cartridge, loosen the safety filter clamp, pull the assembly out, and install the new filter on the cage. Use ONLY original Tiger-Vac part (same part number) -- the safety filter is ATEX certified. We recommend replacing the reverse-purge cartridge at the same time as the safety filter to maintain mutual alignment.
Is it suitable for pharmaceutical applications?
CD-35L EXTENDED can be used in pharmaceutical production where two-stage filtration is required. The cabinet is AISI 304 stainless and washable. An optional HEPA H14 (212202) provides 99.995 % @ 0.3 um filtration on exhaust. Note that the cart is powder coated -- for strict cleanroom validations where the whole machine must be SS we instead recommend CD-2600 EX CR (MFS) 2D or CD-36L EX DT (MFS) with SS cart. For standard pharmaceutical production (not cleanroom) CD-35L EXTENDED gives a good balance between safety and price.
Can it pick up liquids?
No. CD-35L EXTENDED is certified EN 17348 DT -- dry-only recovery. For wet/dry in Zone 20/21 a dedicated WD model must be specified.
