Tiger-Vac CD-55L (DT) EX (MFS) Z22 -- three-phase
Three-phase TEFC ATEX II 2D Detachable Tank -- 55 L tank, 306 m3/h, 400 V continuous duty, MFS -- Note: despite Tiger-Vac's "Z22" model name the category is 2D (Z21)
- Process production in Zone 22 where single-phase 230 V is the standard supply
- Smaller facilities without three-phase outlets (small workshops, mobile installations)
- ATEX housekeeping where the 55 L tank gives long emptying intervals
- Combustible conductive dust (group IIIC: metal, coal, graphite)
- Industrial housekeeping where the TEFC motor gives continuous 24/7 operation
- ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU -- II 2D Ex h tb IIIC T125 C Db IP65 -- -5 C <= Ta <= +37 C -- EN 17348 DT -- ATEX 1st party certified
- EN 17348:2022 (harmonized March 2023)
- IEC 60335-2-69 (industrial vacuums)
Tiger-Vac CD-55L (DT) EX (MFS) Z22 -- three-phase
The Tiger-Vac CD-55L (DT) EX (MFS) Z22 in three-phase configuration (112209B1-Z22) is the more powerful variant of the CD-55L Z22 platform. Note: although Tiger-Vac's model name says "Z22", the formal ATEX category is 2D (corresponding to Zone 21) -- not 3D (Zone 22). This is because the three-phase TEFC motor has a higher protection level "tb" compared to the single-phase version's "tc". 400 V TEFC induction motor (3.4 kW, 8 A) delivers 306 m3/h at 2540 mmH2O and 75 dB(A) -- about 25 % higher vacuum than the single-phase version. The rest of the package is identical: 55 L AISI 304 detachable tank, star-shaped Teflon-coated main filter, Manual Filter Shaker, True Cyclone Separator, 126 kg, 145 cm tall.
Applications
- Process production in Zone 22 where single-phase 230 V is the standard supply
- Smaller facilities without three-phase outlets (small workshops, mobile installations)
- ATEX housekeeping where the 55 L tank gives long emptying intervals
- Combustible conductive dust (group IIIC: metal, coal, graphite)
- Industrial housekeeping where the TEFC motor gives continuous 24/7 operation

Questions and answers
What is the difference between single-phase and three-phase CD-55L Z22?
Single-phase (112207B2-Z22) uses 230 V and 13 A and is ATEX category 3D. Three-phase (112209B1-Z22) uses 400 V and 8 A and is ATEX category 2D (marked at a higher protection class due to different motor protection). Drive specs are otherwise identical: 306 m3/h, 2030/2540 mmH2O, 55 L tank, 126 kg weight. Choose single-phase if you have a 230 V outlet and can accept slightly lower vacuum; choose three-phase if you have a 400 V installation and want higher vacuum plus Z21 marking.
Why a True Cyclone Separator?
The True Cyclone Separator is a passive pre-separator mounted at the suction intake that uses centrifugal force to separate 70-80 % of the coarsest dust before it reaches the main filter. This significantly reduces filter loading and can extend filter life 3-5 times. For the user this means longer intervals between filter cleaning and lower operating cost.
What does ATEX 1st party certified mean?
The manufacturer (Tiger-Vac) self-declares that the product meets the ATEX directive requirements (module A: internal production control). This is the simplest form of ATEX compliance and is valid for category 3 products (Zone 2/22). Category 1 and 2 products require 3rd party Notified Body certification. The CD-55L in category 3D configuration is thus 1st party self-certified, which is the regulated level for Zone 22.
Can it pick up liquids?
No. The CD-55L Z22 is Dry Recovery Only -- for wet/dry recovery in Zone 22 see the CD-3 EX (W&D) or CD-63L EX (W&D) series.
Why 75 dB(A) sound level?
The TEFC motor is larger and noisier than classic bypass motors (72 dB(A) in the C series) because the external cooling fan adds noise. 75 dB(A) is still below the occupational health limit of 80 dB(A) for daily exposure without hearing protection -- but continuous use during an 8-hour shift should be considered with hearing protection at short range.
