Depureco FOX 5,5 DEX 1/2D
- Production line with 2-3 simultaneous 80 mm collection points in Zone 21
- Sieving, bag opening and palletising in food or pharma production
- Wood industry with belt sanding and profile milling
- Metal powder processing (non-reactive metals -- for reactive use INERT)
- Dust collection at dynamic dosing stations
- ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU -- II 1/2D Ex htc IIIC T140°C Da/Db

- IEC 60335-2-69 (industrial vacuums)
Depureco FOX 5,5 DEX 1/2D
The FOX 5.5 DEX 1/2D hits the mid-capacity slot of the FOX family: a 4 kW side-channel blower delivers 450 m3/h at 230 mbar -- 40 percent more air than the FOX 3, but the same 100 L container and the same 660 x 1200 footprint. ATEX II 1/2D Ex htc IIIC T140°C Da/Db, H14 HEPA filter included as standard. The typical choice when a production line has two or three simultaneous dust sources and the external zoning is Zone 21. The cyclone takes the coarse fraction so the star filter enjoys a long service life.

Questions and answers
How do I decide between the FOX 5.5 and the FOX 3?
Think in terms of simultaneous collection points and hose length. The FOX 3 (320 m3/h, 200 mbar) covers one point with a short hose. The FOX 5.5 (450 m3/h, 230 mbar) covers two to three simultaneous points OR one point with a longer hose (up to 10 m) OR finer dust. If you're unsure, FOX 5.5 is the safe choice -- 30 percent more mbar is the difference between "poor suction" and "works" with realistic industrial hose routing.
How much quieter is the FOX 5.5 compared to the FOX 10?
The FOX 5.5 measures 73 dB(A) at 1 m, the FOX 10 measures 74 dB(A). The difference is barely audible. Typically the process noise around the machine dominates, not the machine itself. If noise is critical (learning environment, operator zone), an external silencer can be fitted on the exhaust -- see the P00278 spares family.
Do I need antistatic hose and starter kit?
Yes. In ATEX Zone 21, every connection from the pick-up point to the machine is subject to conductive grounding requirements. Depureco's P12378 Antistatic Starter Kit and P12377 Antistatic Pro Kit (d50) are designed exactly for this -- handle, nozzle and coupling are all antistatic and bonded to the machine's ground. Standard non-ATEX accessories cannot be used.
What's the filter service interval at continuous duty?
The star filter (24,000 cm2, class M) requires manual cleaning -- typically once per shift change, or more often with fine dust. The cyclone significantly reduces load with coarse dust. Expect about 6-12 months service life per filter at 8-hour daily operation with moderate load. The H14 absolute filter usually lasts 24+ months because it only sees residual fine dust after the star filter.
