Depureco FOX 5,5 SP DEX 1/2D
The FOX 5.5 SP DEX 1/2D is mid-capacity with self-cleaning: 4 kW motor delivers 450 m3/h at 230 mbar, 90,000 cm2 cartridge filter cleaned automatically by reverse jet every 30-60 seconds. Zone 21 certification (ATEX II 1/2D Da/Dc) with H14 HEPA included. 100 L container, 80 mm inlet, 1860 mm tall chassis for the cartridge pack. Fits two-shift or rotating shift operations where the operator shouldn't have to think about filter maintenance between shifts.

Questions and answers
What is the typical annual maintenance?
Minimal: visual inspection of the cartridge pack every 3-6 months, compressed-air hose and coupling check every six months, HEPA filter replacement after 24-36 months depending on loading. The reverse-jet valves have 5+ years of life at 6 bar. The container is emptied as needed -- 100 L usually holds a week's dust in two-shift operation.
How many simultaneous pickup points can 450 m3/h handle?
Practical: two simultaneously active 80 mm points. Three points is possible with staggered loading (only two active at a time). For reliable coverage of three-four points, choose the PUMA 10 SP DEX 1/2D (750 m3/h + 100 mm). An 80 mm T-branch with automatic dampers can also be used for sequential pickup.
Should the cartridge filter be replaced on the same interval as a star filter?
No -- much longer. The cartridge filter (90,000 cm2) has 3-4 times the surface of a star filter (24,000 cm2) AND is cleaned automatically, so effective life is typically 3-5 years versus 6-12 months for a star filter. For dust containing adhesive or greasy components, life may be reduced, so consider the PTFE antistatic filter (P11847 family) as an alternative.
Can the FOX 5.5 SP run without compressed air for a short while?
Yes -- if the compressed air fails, the motor and suction continue. But without reverse-jet cleaning, the filter begins to load, and pressure drop rises within 30-60 minutes depending on dust loading. Best practice: install a low-pressure alarm on the compressed-air inlet so the operator knows. Depureco optionally supplies a low-pressure sensor kit.
