Delfin MTL 301 1/3D
Single-phase ATEX vacuum for Zone 22 with internal Zone 20 -- bypass motor for periodic cleaning
- Periodic cleaning of floors and machinery surfaces in Zone 22 areas
- Warehouses and production halls with occasional dust accumulation
- Service booths and technical rooms in dusty industrial environments
- Post-shift cleanup where dust has settled but can be disturbed
- Small- and medium-sized production cells with combustible dust
- ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU -- II 1/3D Ex h tb IIIC T80°C(Int)/T95°C(ext) Da/Dc
- EN 17348:2022 (harmonized March 2023)
- IEC 60335-2-69 (industrial vacuums)
Delfin MTL 301 1/3D
The MTL 301 1/3D is certified for areas where an explosive dust atmosphere occurs only briefly or rarely during normal operation (Zone 22), and where the vacuum's internals must withstand a continuous atmosphere (Zone 20). The single-phase bypass motor delivers flexibility for cleaning tasks in warehouses, production aisles and service booths -- without requiring three-phase power.
Applications
- Periodic cleaning of floors and machinery surfaces in Zone 22 areas
- Warehouses and production halls with occasional dust accumulation
- Service booths and technical rooms in dusty industrial environments
- Post-shift cleanup where dust has settled but can be disturbed
- Small- and medium-sized production cells with combustible dust

Questions and answers
What does the marking II 1/3D mean?
"II" means surface installation (not mining), "1" indicates the internal category (Zone 20 -- continuous dust atmosphere inside the vacuum), "3" indicates the external category (Zone 22 -- rare/short dust atmosphere outside the vacuum), and "D" stands for dust. The digits 1 and 2 in this symbol have nothing to do with gas.
Why is the motor a bypass motor?
Bypass motors suit periodic use where the vacuum runs in bursts with pauses in between. They are powerful relative to their size but are not designed for continuous multi-hour operation -- for that you need a three-phase side-channel blower or a brushless motor.
Can it also be used in Zone 21?
No. The MTL 301 1/3D is certified for Zone 22 externally. For cleaning in Zone 21, where an explosive dust atmosphere is likely during normal operation, choose the MTL 301 1/2D or another model marked II 1/2D.
Does it comply with EN 17348:2022?
Yes. The Delfin MTL 301 1/3D is built to meet EN 17348:2022, the harmonized standard for industrial vacuums handling combustible dust in ATEX-classified environments. The standard was harmonized under the ATEX Directive in March 2023.
What filter class does it have?
Filter class H with HEPA H14 per EN 1822, 99.995 % efficiency at MPPS. This is the highest class for mobile industrial vacuums.
How is the dust collected?
The MTL 301 1/3D uses a synthetic safebag, enabling safe bag handling without direct contact with the dust. This matters particularly for combustible or hazardous dust.
