Delfin MTL 301 AIREX 1/3D
Compact pneumatic ATEX vacuum for Zone 22 with internal Zone 20 -- 7 venturi, 13 L, cartridge filter with Dustop cleaning
- Spot cleaning in Zone 22 with limited space or narrow passages
- Machine servicing where the vacuum is moved frequently
- Fine-dust collection where cartridge+Dustop gives longer operating intervals
- Mobile cleaning crews at refineries and chemical plants
- Backup or secondary vacuum alongside a larger 802 WD or DM unit
- ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU -- II 1/3D Ex h IIIC T80°C Da/Dc

- IEC 60335-2-69 (industrial vacuums)
Delfin MTL 301 AIREX 1/3D
The Delfin MTL 301 AIREX 1/3D is the compact pneumatic model in the AIREX family -- a 13-litre tank and just 30 kg, but the same notified-body-certified ATEX II 1/3D marking and the same 7 venturi units as its bigger siblings. The primary filter is a cartridge with a Dustop shaker system that lets the operator restore suction mechanically during operation. Particularly suited where space is tight, where the vacuum needs to be moved frequently between zones, or where collection volume is moderate and the cartridge gives longer intervals between bag changes than a sacco filter.

Questions and answers
Why pneumatic venturi drive instead of an electric motor?
Venturi units have no moving parts, no brushes and no motor windings. That eliminates two things at once: a potential ignition source in an explosive atmosphere, and the maintenance burden of motor, bearings and cooling. The vacuum can run continuously for as long as compressed air is supplied, and there are no electrical components to certify or inspect. The trade-off is air consumption -- venturi makes most sense where compressed air is already available (production plants, refineries, pharmaceutical facilities).
What does the II 1/3D marking mean?
The marking reads as two digits: "1" is the internal category (Zone 20 inside the vacuum -- continuous dust atmosphere in the collection tank), and "3" is the external category (Zone 22 in the surrounding room -- rare or short-term dust atmosphere). "D" stands for dust. The internal Zone 20 certification is exactly what EN 17348:2022 has raised the bar on, and it is only obtained through notified-body certification.
What compressed-air installation is required?
The unit requires clean, dry compressed air at 6 bar with a 12 mm ID supply hose. Air consumption at full load is 729 nl/min, which corresponds to a mid-range industrial compressor, so the installation must be able to sustain this. Always fit an air filter upstream to protect the venturi nozzles.
What is the Dustop cleaning system?
Dustop is a manual shaker on the cartridge filter. When suction drops because the filter is clogging, the operator grabs a handle and shakes the filter from outside -- dust falls into the tank and suction is restored. It replaces the need for compressed-air auto-cleaning and keeps the design simple and maintenance-free.
Is it certified to EN 17348:2022?
Yes. All AIREX models are certified by a notified body (IMQ / IECEx) to EN 17348:2022, the harmonized standard for industrial vacuum cleaners handling combustible dust in ATEX zones. The certificate covers both internal category 1 (Zone 20) and external category 2 or 3 depending on the model. Documentation available upon request.
How is the dust collected?
Dust is collected in a 13-litre tank lined with a plastic bag. When full, the bag is closed and disposed of without the operator coming into direct contact with the dust. After the primary filter sits an HEPA H14 filter (99.995 % efficiency at MPPS per EN 1822-5) as the final stage, so the exhaust is clean even for fine or health-hazardous particles.
