Delfin MTL 801 BP
The MTL 801 BP is a wet & dry vacuum certified for ATEX Zone 22 (external) and Zone 20 (internal), built for industrial environments where both combustible dust and non-flammable liquids must be collected in the same workflow. The single-phase bypass motor drives a polyester bag filter (5,000 cm²) for dry dust and a dedicated PPL filter for liquid pickup -- combined with HEPA H14, the model ensures fine dust does not return to the work area even when operating in a classified zone.

Questions and answers
What does the II 1/3D marking mean on a wet & dry model?
"II" means surface installation, "1/3" indicates the internal category (Zone 20 -- continuous dust atmosphere in the container) and external category (Zone 22 -- rare/short dust atmosphere in the surroundings), and "D" stands for dust. EPL Da/Dc confirms high protection internally and sufficient protection externally. The digits 1 and 3 have nothing to do with gas -- the wet & dry function does not change this ATEX reading.
Can it handle flammable liquids?
No. The II 1/3D marking covers dust atmospheres (D), not gas atmospheres (G). Liquids collected must be non-flammable -- water, coolant, non-combustible process liquids. Flammable liquids require a model marked for gas zones (II 2GD, II 3GD or similar) from our ATEX Combi range.
How does it switch between wet and dry operation?
The model has a polyester ANT M bag filter (5,000 cm², Ø 420 mm) for dry dust and a separate PPL filter for liquid pickup. When switching, the container must be emptied, the relevant filter fitted, and the secondary HEPA H14 filter checked. The procedure is described in the user manual -- the correct filter choice is critical for ATEX compliance.
Why an 80-litre container?
Wet & dry tasks typically create larger volumes of collected material per run than dry dust alone, because liquids are heavier and fill volume faster. The 80-litre container allows longer uninterrupted operation between emptyings -- especially useful for post-shift cleanup or spill control, where the task cannot be paused every five minutes.
Can it be used in Zone 21?
No. The MTL 801 BP is certified for Zone 22 externally. For work in Zone 21 (explosive dust atmosphere likely during normal operation), choose a model marked II 1/2D -- for example the MTL 201 1/2D or MTL 451 1/2D.
Does it comply with EN 17348:2022?
Yes. The MTL 801 BP meets EN 17348:2022, the harmonized standard for industrial vacuums handling combustible dust in ATEX-classified environments.
