Depureco PUMA 30 S DEX 1/3D
The Depureco PUMA 30 S DEX 1/3D is the PUMA HD heavy-duty chassis with 130 mm inlet and 1/3D certification for the heaviest industrial dust collection in Zone 22. Three-phase 18.5 kW side-channel blower, 175 L container and 1180 m3/h airflow at 380 mbar vacuum. Cartridge filter 180,000 cm2 with integrated automatic reverse jet cleaning. TUEV-certified electrical panel and remote control included. ATEX II 1/3D Ex htc IIIC T140°C Da/Dc. Built for steelworks, foundries, powder metallurgy and other extreme industrial applications in Zone 22. Note that the automatic filter cleaning requires compressed air at 6 bar from the site; there is no compressor certified for Zone 22. Earthing and antistatic filters are standard on the DEX version.

Questions and answers
Why is the PUMA 30 available in both P and S variants?
P stands for flow-prioritised, S for suction-prioritised. The PUMA 30 S DEX 1/3D delivers highest vacuum (380 mbar) but moderate airflow (1180 m3/h). The other variant (PUMA 30 P DEX 1/3D) swaps these parameters -- same motor size, but different compressor setup. Flow-prioritised is for large airflows (e.g. extraction hoods and large enclosures); suction-prioritised is for long hose runs and fine sticky dust requiring high vacuum.
Can the machine be supplied with a built in compressor?
No. The automatic reverse jet cleaning works on compressed air at 6 bar, and there is no compressor certified for Zone 22. The compressed air therefore has to come from the site. If there is no supply where the machine has to work, it needs to be planned into the installation, and we will gladly help establish the pressure and flow required.
How does the automatic reverse jet cleaning work?
Timed pneumatic sequence: each cartridge gets a compressed-air pulse in a rotating order. The pulse gently shocks the filter and loosens the dust layer. Occurs during operation, so there is no downtime. Interval typically 30-60 seconds, tuned to dust load. Compressed-air consumption approx 200-400 L/min -- connection 6-8 bar work supply.
How is the bin emptied, and can the machine be moved by forklift?
The tiltable kit consists of a lifting bracket on the 175 L bin and a mounting ring on the machine. The bin is lifted out and tipped by forklift, so the material is discharged without manual handling. If the complete machine has to be lifted and moved, the FKL forklift bracket with eyebolts is available. Both are options and are best ordered with the machine, since they are considerably cheaper to fit at the factory than to retrofit.
What is the difference between PUMA HD and PUMA DEX?
PUMA HD is the heavy-duty variant: 130 mm inlet (vs PUMA DEX 100 mm), cartridge filter 180,000 cm2 (vs star filter 45,000 cm2), larger chassis (1050 x 1950 mm), 18.5 to 22 kW motor (vs 7.5 to 18.5 kW). Built for steelworks and foundries. Automatic reverse jet cleaning included as standard (no separate SP variant).
Can the PUMA 30 S DEX 1/3D be used for steel chips and grinding dust?
Yes. Antistatic polyester M class filter plus grounding handles soft-metal chips and dust. The AISI 304 container is corrosion-resistant. Note: very large steel-chip fractions should go through a pre-separator before PUMA HD -- chips can damage the cartridge filter by direct intake. Contact us for pre-separator manifold design if you have mixed chips/dust.
What is the footprint of the PUMA 30 S DEX 1/3D, and can it be installed indoors?
Dimensions 1050 x 1950 x 2300 mm, weight 620 kg. Requires at least 3 x 3 m of service space around the machine. The IP65 chassis allows placement in humid environments (e.g. near process-water installations). Sound pressure 78 dB(A) -- hearing protection recommended for permanent operator presence.
Is the PUMA 30 S DEX 1/3D certified for Zone 21?
No. The PUMA HD range is 1/3D -- internal Zone 20 + external Zone 22. For external Zone 21 you must choose a 1/2D model. There is currently no PUMA HD 1/2D in Depureco's standard catalogue -- contact us for project-specific upgrade if you have external Zone 21 requirements.
